Denison Yacht Sales Expands as Marine Industry Rebounds

Denison Yacht Sales is adding 10 employees at its first office in Palm Beach County, an expansion that highlights the rebound underway in the marine industry.

Fort Lauderdale’s Denison long has sold new and used yachts in the neighboring county, but business has grown so much that it now made sense to open a separate office there, said President Bob Denison.

Buyers in Palm Beach County also differ somewhat from those in Broward. They tend to be more locally based, rather than visitors from elsewhere, and they’re hotter on sport-fishing boats, Denison said.

The new locale debuted at Soverel Harbour Marina at 2401 PGA Boulevard in Palm Beach Gardens. Hiring there will bring the company’s staff to roughly 70 people, Denison said.

The office is the 11th for Denison Yacht Sales, which also has locales across the United States and in France. Plans call for opening one or two more in 2015 as yacht sales rise, he said.

“You have the economy looking better, banks lending more freely and new features on yachts making it more interesting for people to buy,” said Dension, explaining his optimism for increased sales in 2015.

The Denison family began in Fort Lauderdale’s boating industry in 1948, launching Broward Marine first to repair boats and later to build them, too. Now, the family business offers yachting services worldwide, from sales and charter to yacht management and new construction.

Denison Yacht Sales also has offices in St. Petersburg and Naples in Florida; Montauk in New York; Marina del Rey and Newport Beach in California; Holland in Michigan; Seattle in Washington, Charleston in South Carolina and in Antibes in France.
