The 28th annual Lake of the Ozarks Shootout held August 21-28 brought together the top racers and offshore racing powerboats topping 200 mph.

Boats travel from around the country to the event, which features over 100 racers and draws over 100,000 spectators who form a massive raft-up.

“I grew up spending summers at the lake. They started the shootout after I moved to Florida so I never experienced one. This was my first and not my last,” said Denison Yacht Broker Dean Stuhlmann, who attended the event, which is the largest unsanctioned boat race in the U.S. ” The performance boats taking part in the race were simply awesome.”

A 64′ Azimut was a new addition to the lake and one of the largest there. The race boat “American Ethanol,” a 50′ Mystic catamaran with quad 1950s and Arneson surface drives, won top honors at 217 mph.
