Join us as BoatTest.com takes a walkthrough of the features on the 2016 Hatteras 60 Motoryacht:

The following opinions are solely those of BoatTest.com and its test captain.

Hi, Captain Steve from BoatTest.com, and today I am onboard the beautiful 60 motoryacht from Hatteras. It’s all about luxury and entertaining your guests in style, so let’s see how we’re going to do that as we step onboard for our tour.

We’ve got a swim platform that comes out 4 feet 3 inches from the transom. Molded staircase to both sides leads us to the aft deck. The stairs have teak treads and courtesy lights and just to the starboard side, freshwater shower, and I appreciate the handrails to each side.

Well, the aft deck has a C-shaped sofa wrapping around a beautifully finished teak table, two freestanding deck chairs just ahead. Up above the extended flybridge that gives us a protected overhead 6 feet 11 inches off the deck, and it’s supported by polished chrome stanchions. The sofa is molded fiberglass, and there is plenty of storage underneath.

Side decks to both port and starboard ease our transition to the bow where we have a pair of sunpads measuring 6 feet by 2 feet 9 inches each. And it easily converts into a forward-facing bench seat molded directly into the trunk cabin.

Let’s take a look at the flying bridge deck. Well, this certainly looks like a comfortable area. L-shaped seating wraps around a pair of teak pedestal tables directly adjacent to the helm. The overhead 6 feet 10 inches off the deck, plenty of light and the entire area is completely enclosed by Isinglass curtains. Moving out to the aft deck we’ve got an open-air space with two deck chairs. Certainly this could be used as a boat deck, put a crane here and you can launch a tender. Just ahead we’ve got an electric grill.

Now let’s take a look at the interior as we move into the salon. Hatteras offers two main deck plans – the standard one seen here, which was on our test boat, and the optional one seen here, which has a lower helm station with both the captain and companion chair. Note the optional crew quarters aft.

6 feet 7 inches of overhead clearance to the fabric overhead, L-shaped seating over to the port hand side, coffee table and then a free-standing chair over to the starboard side. 37-inch series TV connected to the sound system that is located in the forward bulkhead. At deck level we’ve got an inlaid rug with a synthetic wood border.

Moving forward, an 8-inch step leads us to the galley and dinette area. Well thought-out traffic pattern with no dead ends around an island with a sink and storage underneath. Over to the other side the stone countertops continue; storage above, convection microwave, 4-burner ceramic cooktop. We have 1, 2, 3, 4 refrigerated drawers, and this bottom one is a freezer with an ice maker. Directly adjacent to that, dishwasher and an oven underneath.

Over to the starboard side we have a watertight pantograph door leading right to the gate and the rail where the stairs would be mounted, so we can easily get groceries in and out of the galley. Moving across the synthetic wood flooring that we saw in the salon area continues throughout the galley and dining area.

We’ve got a beautifully finished teak pedestal table with an L-shaped settee wrapping around. Storage all the way to the back, and under one section is another ice maker, and all of this is highlighted by beautiful visibility through frameless tinted safety glass. And fully forward we have a wine chiller.

Well, clearly the 60 motoryacht is designed for spending days on deck and nights below deck. Let’s see what will accommodate our guests in this 3-stateroom, 2-head yacht.

Just down the stairs, we’ve got storage all around and the master stateroom is just aft. Beautiful, full-beam master stateroom, hull side windows to both port and starboard. We’ve got a desk, plenty of storage, king-size berth and more storage over to the port hand side, just underneath the hull side windows. And we’ve got cedar hanging lockers to both the starboard side and the port hand side.

And we have a master head with the same wood decking that we saw up above. There is a mirrored ceiling overhead, stone countertops with a vessel sink and a walk-in shower with tile and stone work all around.

Coming out of the master stateroom, we’ve got a stacked washer and dryer, and then as we move forward to the port hand side, we’ve got a guest stateroom with an over-under berth in an L-shaped configuration, storage to the side and below, TV in the forward bulkhead and a single port light, giving natural light.

Now just across the way we have a shared head that also serves as a dayhead, stone counter, plenty of storage above, walk-in shower and again the same flooring that we’re now seeing throughout the boat. There is also a private door to the VIP stateroom just ahead.

Well, here we have an island queen size berth with access to both sides; up above an opening hatch giving us natural light. All the way to the port hand side an oversized cedar hanging locker, storage to the side of the berth, a single port light to both port and starboard, giving us more natural light. There’s more storage to the starboard side and then a private access to the shared head.

Now that we’ve toured the Hatteras 60, let me tell you about one important detail that sets her apart from nearly every other yacht in class. That is her 18 foot 2 inch beam which is 2 feet or more than most other 60 motoryachts on the market.

This extra beam pays off in more entertaining space and more comfortable living for owners and guests. She has more room in the salon for cocktail parties. Her country kitchen has a functional and attractive island with sink. There’s room for 3 folding chairs around the dining table.

The full-beam master is widest in class, and its marble shower is the largest. The VIP bed has more room on both sides and the widest beds in class. And the L-shaped layout provides more interior room for guests than we find elsewhere.

Well, clearly I’m seeing a motoryacht that can handle entertaining her guests in opulent style whether by day or for overnights. And that’s my look at the 60 motoryacht from Hatteras. For BoatTest.com, I’m Captain Steve. We’ll see you on the water.
