The 564 CMY is a luxurious vessel with a unique layout that affords greater interior room. She offers three levels for entertaining that can all be air-conditioned along three private staterooms. Out on our test run the 564 proved to be very responsive for a full-size motoryacht.

Carver Yachts has produced a 56-foot motoryacht with all the luxury and room of a sixty footer. The 564 motoryacht has a truly unique design with a layout that affords greater interior space without compromising style and practicality. There are three separate levels for entertaining and three private staterooms all with ensuite heads. Different levels aboard a cruising vessel afford the owners and guests several living spaces which greatly enhances the comfort of any voyage. This layout also provides privacy when desired. The 564 is basically the spacious and popular 506 with a roomy cockpit added on. The raised bridge deck and molded walkways vastly increase the liveable space within.

There’s ample seating for 9 on the flybridge and it can be fully enclosed and air-conditioned. The flybridge command center features triple pedestal helm seats, full instrumentation, and excellent lines of sight both for and aft. There’s even a remote control electric sunroof that gives the flybridge that open-air experience.

The spacious aftdeck area is perfect for relaxing or entertaining and is enclosed and air conditioned as well. It has wide open vistas that will surely be enjoyed at a favorite destination. The amount of deck space here really gives the owner several options for seating and storage arrangements.

The salon takes advantage of nearly the full 15’4” beam. It has a very roomy feel when you first enter. To port an L-shaped ultra leather lounge seats 5 comfortably and just opposite is an entertainment center with a love seat beside and to port. Just forward is a free standing dining table with individual seating for two couples or a family of four. You don’t seemany yachts of this size with a dining table! Just opposite is the u-shaped semi sunken galley that features an over/ under refrigerator/freezer, microwave oven, dual burner stove top, optional coffee maker, and a double sink with designer faucet.

The 564 is powered by a pair of Volvo new D-12 electronic diesels. The D-12 was specially designed for faster planing boats, and it features Volvo’s Electronic Diesel Control system. Electronically controlled ignition timing provides more fuel-efficient combustion in the cylinders, which means you get better fuel economy, higher power, and reduced exhaust emissions. The engines were very quiet and there was no significant smoking when the boat was powered up and put onto a plane. The engine itself features six electronic injectors, a gear-driven fuel pump, freshwater cooled turbo charger and air cooler, and of course, electronic engine controls and displays for precise rpm settings and easy engine diagnostics. Better still, the D-12 develops maximum torque at just 1400 rpm to get the bigger yachts up and running in a hurry.

The master stateroom is located just aft of the salon and features an island pedestal queen berth, beautiful cherry cabinetry and trim, elegant appointments, and ample storage. The master head is located ensuite with mirrored ceiling, a large bathtub/shower combination in addition to a commode in separate compartments, and a beautiful vanity.

The guest stateroom is located forward of the salon and features its own island queen berth, two cedar lined closets, luxurious appointments, and its own ensuite head with vanity and separate shower stall.

The third stateroom is also impressive with full stand up headroom, and optional washer/ dryer, and its own ensuite head with shower and vanity. It’s a perfect stateroom for the kids.

There’s sliding door access from the master stateroom to the cockpit which features nearly 82 square feet of space, molded boarding steps, and a transom door that leads to a huge swim platform with enough room for a tender, plenty of storage, and neatly hidden shore power, telephone and entertainment receptacles.

With a length overall of 59’2”, a draft of 4’ 6’’, and a weight fully loaded of 54,167 pounds, the 564 performed well out on our test track. There is virtually no black smoke emitting from the Volvo D-12’s and the boat got up on plane effortlessly. That’s what the D-12’s were designed for and they seem a perfect match for the 564. The vessel was also very responsive for a full-sized motoryacht and is easy to dock using the bowthruster. The trade off for all the interior room is her relatively high freeboard. She has such a high profile that caution and common sense should be used when running this vessel in moderate to heavy weather, and you must also keep this in mind when docking on windy days. In addition, always run her at angles to the sea as beam seas could rearrange the interior on a rough day. On the dive platform there are two inserts that hold two eight foot fiberglass rods that rise directly from the corners of the dive platform. These are docking aids and let the captain see from the helm just exactly where the stern is when reversing into a slip. Very handy!

We determined the best cruising speed to be 26.5 mph turning 2000 rpm and burning only 54 gph with the Volvo D-12 675 hp diesel engines. At that speed you could expect a cruising range of almost 290 miles based on the 510-gallon fuel capacity. At full throttle the 564 reached 31.5 mph with a low sound reading of only 75 decibels.

The Carver 564 Motoryacht has all the features of a sixty-five foot yacht neatly designed into an easy to run yacht fifty-six footer. If you like the Carver 506, be sure to check out the 564 at your local Carver dealer or at your next boat show.

Spacious salon with multiple seating options.

The saloon runs full beam thanks to the sidedecks which are raised above the saloon sofa. This also provides two sightlines–high and low for an airy feel.
