VIDEO: New 112′ Sunseeker Yacht Destroyed By Fire in U.K.

(Sunseeker Fire Video Below) – Firefighters tackled a fire on a new Sunseeker Yacht in Poole Harbour in Dorset, England. The 112′ (34m) Sunseeker Yacht was completely destroyed but thankfully nobody was hurt. More than 50 firefighters and 6 fire engines were involved and the cause of the blaze is being investigated by both the fire service and Dorset Police.

Station manager Michael Cox, of Dorset Fire and Rescue Service, said they arrived to find a severe fire on the flybridge and inside the Main Salon. Cox commented, “The vessel’s out of the water, it’s moored on the dockside where it’s been sat on cradles, which has hampered access to the actual vessel itself. Neighboring boats that had been parked and moored adjacent to the vessel on fire have been moved with no damage, including the RNLI towing away a 40-meter motor yacht.”

Mr. Cox said there had been no oil spillage into the harbor but the fire took several hours to put out.

Stewart McIntyre, managing director of Sunseeker Yachts, said the yacht was worth £7 million and was due to be shipped to her new owner in Mexico in the next few weeks.

Her owner had flown into the Sunseeker Yachts factory in the U.K. with his captain and crew to collect his luxury motoryacht.

But staff at the boatyard in Poole Quay could only watch as more than 50 firefighters battled through the night to control the blaze which ripped through the fibreglass superstructure.
