40' Hinckley 1978 Barbara R

BARBARA R is of the last great "Bermuda" B40’s MKIII's built. As such her trim and finish level is like the B40’s that should be at the top of the list for anyone looking for an excellent B40. She sleeps 6 and her interior is finished in satin varnished mahogany with bright white overhead with a satin varnished teak and holly sole. BARBARA R is for sale from her second owner and has benefited from the experience and care of both owners who continuously and meticulously maintained and upgraded her.

The Hinckley Bermuda 40 MK III with it’s classic long overhang, perfectly pitched sheer line, wide side-decks, graceful cabin profile, and distinctive near-vertical transom, has inspired severe lust in the heart of many a cruising sailor. Designed by Bill Tripp, Jr., it is without doubt one of the most attractive sailboats ever conceived. The B-40 is very robustly constructed by the Hinckley Company that also boasts outstanding finish quality and superb joiner work and fitted with many components manufactured to their own exacting standards. The B-40 is an excellent vessel that serves as both coastal or bluewater cruiser and is excellent in shoal-water grounds such as Chesapeake Bay or the Florida Keys and the Bahamas. CONSTRUCTION

Solid fiberglass hull, reinforced with additional laminations in all stress areas. Deck is set in a 6’ flange which is molded into the hull, fiberglass and bolted to form a permanent hull/deck joint. Nonskid pattern is molded into the deck.
