St George Yacht | 42' Bruce Roberts 1981

Initially built in 1981 and completely refitted in 2020, s/v St. George is a Bruce Roberts “Spray” Pilothouse Ketch.  A perfect liveaboard, she measures 42’ on deck and 50’ overall with a beam of 14’6” and weighs in at 22 tons yet only draws 5’.  Tug-boat strength, seaworthy windows in the Pilothouse open on all four sides giving St. George 360-degree visibility at the helm along with the most classic appearance of a traditional sailing yacht.  Restored over a two-and-a-half year period in Indiantown, FL by two professional artists (the owners), St. George can serve as a fabulous home for a knowledgeable individual or couple. With a full keel, round bottom and reverse transom-ended “Spray” design powered by a single-screw Ford Lehman 80HP diesel engine (@ 2031.0 hours), St. George is a solid ocean-going ship, a world-class cruiser to sail dependably through the northernmost seas or comfortably cruising through the southern climes.  She’s a show-stopper.

Having sailed to Tahiti and back, as well as the Mediterranean and back, she has proven herself to be a capable and seaworthy vessel.

Set up to be self-sufficient with simplified operating systems, St. George is ideally suited to allow an owner to easily live aboard at anchor in remote locations or cruise for unlimited amounts of time without having to put into shore.

Accommodations

The large Master Stateroom consists of an athwartship Queen Bed, a custom-made 8” deep mattress and additional pillow-topper mattress.  There is a large-screened hatch and ample full-height hanging lockers, storage cabinets, drawers and shelving to more than accommodate either cruising or live-aboard needs.

Three steps down forward of the Pilot House take you to the oh-so-comfortable and cozy Main Salon with 7’ headroom throughout.  A 4’8” x 7’6” U-shaped full-size Galley is situated to port and is a cook’s dream with a 21” x 22” x 22” deep refrigerator/freezer, stowing lockers, on-counter cabinet stowage and wall cabinetry overhead. Unique features include oak cabinet doors with oak inserts hand woven by the original builder’s wife and a 4’ wide mirrored china and glassware cabinet three shelves high. Abundant storage is situated along Corian countertops and two stainless sinks; the Galley offers a propane stove with oven and a designated built-in area for a microwave.

A large 4’ x 4’ ½” bathroom with shower, vanity and head is forward of the Galley to Port.  This bathroom cannot merely be called a “Head”, the legal marine head uses a Wilcox-Crittenden “Skipper Mate” fresh-water flush system, considered the ultimate manual toilet system.

Forward of the Main Salon to Starboard there is a full hanging locker with deeply shelved storage behind.  Further forward is a second private cabin with a slightly elevated full-sized v-berth, work area, bookshelf and large hanging locker with shelves and additional deep storage – 3 lockers! - under the mattress.  There is a second large hatch overhead.
