Yacht Description

Designed by renowned designer Robert H. Perry, the Nordic 40 was built to the highest of standards and over the years has proven to be a fast, capable blue water cruiser. Her hull is solid fiberglass. The deck is balsa cored with sold glass under deck hardware which is through-bolted to backing plates. 

Her sail plan along with performance keel and rudder deliver superb performance, especially when going to weather. In the realm of iconic 40 footers, the Nordic 40 is considered to be among the best of the best.

“Lark” is in absolutely fantastic condition and it’s obvious from the moment you step aboard that her owners have taken every measure to keep her in top condition and that they take great pride in her.

Lark was built with all opening ports, an open quarter berth area, and numerous other design improvements, including an improved mast step. She is equipped with Sea Frost refrigeration, Lunaire reverse cycle heat and air conditioning and many other features for comfortable cruising in all climates. Additionally, Lark is rigged for offshore sailing with an inner stay and running backstays for flying either a staysail or storm jib.

After many recent upgrades, Lark is new to the market due to a change in the owner’s cruising plans.

Nordic 40 Performance Cruiser

The Nordic 40 was designed by Robert Perry as a long range cruising vessel with a strong emphasis on performance. They are rugged in their construction, and the fact that the hull is built of solid fiberglass without a core, is appealing to cruising sailors. The underbody is a fin keel, and the rudder is strengthened and supported by a full skeg. The 6’6” draft provides excellent upwind performance and the rod rigging and tall sail plan complete the performance design specs.

All teak interior comfortably arranged for offshore voyaging.

V-berth cabin forward with 6" memory foam mattresses. Lockers above and below the berths, and 2 opening ports and a large overhead hatch for excellent ventilation. Aft of the starboard berth is a large hanging locker. A door closes the cabin from the passageway.

The main cabin offers a comfortable "L" shaped settee to port that will convert to a double berth. Generous lockers are outboard of the berth. A large table that will accommodate 6 folds down from the bulkhead. To starboard is an additional settee/berth with lockers behind and above. Water tanks are located under the port and starboard berths, both of which were recently replaced with poly tanks with cleanout access.

Aft of the main cabin, to port is a well designed, offshore "U" shaped galley. The ice box is located in the forward section (away from the engine) and is served by a Sea Frost refrigeration system. Outboard is a 3-burner propane stove, and in the aft section, double ss sinks with hot and cold pressure water. Large secure lockers are abundant around the galley.

Opposite the galley is a navigation table and seat. Aft of the navigation area is a quarter berth. This berth is truly a double, and the area is spacious. Teak ceiling strips line the hull, providing insulation and beauty.

There are 10 opening ports throughout the cabin, and 2 large opening hatches for great ventilation. The sole is teak and holly and was refinished just a few years ago.
