It’s a treat for us to come across a yacht so meticulously updated or a couple so focused on preparing for some serious passage-making.  Purchased in 2023 in Maine, they went over every feature, every system, and embarked on a plan to make her even better.  The goal?  Serious ocean passage making:  the Caribbean, Europe and beyond.  The latest systems, updated rig, new main, new standing rigging, new cockpit canvas, the best solar panels & power management, new dinghy/outboard and MANY other amazing upgrades and features. The vast list of updates goes far beyond just the major enhancements expressed in this highly detailed listing.

A touch of super yacht styling in an affordable package, this brilliant renovated 2008 Beneteau 49, TOPAZ, offers all the performance and accommodation of a much larger yacht in the sub-50’ category.  To truly enjoy an off-shore passage, you need some mass underfoot.  At around 30,000 to 35,000 pounds (loaded), an adventurous couple can travel fast, far and wide in comfort, style and safety – across oceans or around the world as desired.

Beneteau fine tunes the big boat feel and offers true blue water performance.  She’s as easy to handle in a big blow as she is around the dock.  Her spacious cockpit is easy to navigate and offers ample space for electronics at just the right locations.  All sailing gear is at arm’s length.  She enjoys blue water thoughtful touches like built-in life raft storage in the stern and high cockpit coamings for comfort and safety.

Her interior, by Italian firm Nauta Designs, famous for megayacht interiors, provides a layout below that is safe to navigate in spirited seas w/plenty of handholds from bow to stern.  In this highly sought after three-stateroom layout, both fore and aft cabins are spacious and accommodating with abundant storage.

When off-watch during a passage, one crew can lounge tucked into an aft berth below the cockpit while the on-watch crew is just a few feet away, visually through the opening ports into the cockpit or just a tap on the floor away from the helm.

Her cockpit, rig, gear, and decks are laid out for a couple to manage easily - single-handed sailing is a breeze when the rest of your crew is off-watch.  Oversized all-electric cockpit winches do all the work, making this big boat feel much smaller for a cruising couple in a big blow while maintaining the safety and comfort that this big yacht provides.

Construction

Hull of hand-laid solid GRP bonded to a structural grid/hull liner of directional fiberglass/GRP for a strong, stiff, light composite. Vinylester hull barrier coat to resist osmotic blistering and zone-specific stitchmat laminates for specific increased strength optimization.

Cored GRP sandwich construction for stiffness, thermal and acoustic insulation and lighter weight. Solid fiberglass reinforcements in high load areas. Integral unidirectional GRP deck beams for added strength. Main bulkheads bonded 360° to the hull and deck for rigid torsional and compressive strength.
