Golfito Marina Village Officially Open, Slips Available

The Golfito Marina, featuring the largest berth on the West Coast of Costa Rica, celebrated its official grand opening this weekend, joined by dignitaries including Luis Guillermo Solís, the president of Costa Rica. 

The marina, located in the lush Bahia Golfito on the southern Pacific coast of Costa Rica, is the first superyacht marina to offer dockage for vessels up to 400 feet in the region.

The port itself is south of the hurricane zone and protected from the open ocean, allowing yachts to travel in and out of calm waters with ease.

“This is a rare opportunity to own a slip in what is poised to become the world’s next superyacht charter destination,” said Denison’s David Johnson. “The Golfito Marina fills a need for superyachts that routinely pass Costa Rica by on their way to the Galapagos or elsewhere because there’s no place for them to dock.”

The marina currently offers 46 slips available for purchase, including:

• 14 berths for 12.2m (40ft.) vessels
• 2 berths for 15.2m (50ft.) vessels
• 13 berths for 18.3m (60ft.) vessels
• 7 berths for 21.3m (70ft.) vessels
• 4 berths for 27.4m (90ft.) vessels
• 1 berth for 30.4m (100ft.) vessels
• 1 berth for a 45.7m (150ft.) vessel
• 4 berths for 45.7m (150ft.) or 2 berths for 107m (350ft.) vessels (along the main berth)

Golfito Marina’s 80.8m (265ft.) fuel dock is equipped with high volume (150 GPM) filtered fuel pumps. The dock currently is stocked with 90,000 gallons of fuel – enough to fill a 120m vessel.

The marina features on-site customs and documentation processing, where owners can easily maintain their customs forms and vessel documentation while docked.

Its 700′ main pier and 40′-350′ docks are equipped with state-of-the-art power pedestals produced by Marine Electric Equipment offering a total of 4000A at 480 volts three-phase, using receptacle offerings from 30A to 300A with wireless metering of all utilities.

Electrical power can be delivered to vessels with a comprehensive range of distribution equipment including ultra-efficient GTX unit substations, power pedestals, and GTX Super and Giga-Yacht Centers.

The marina offers numerous accommodations for area transportation. On-site car rentals and complimentary shuttle services allow owners and charter guests to comfortably explore the Golfito Village Resort, with water taxis on standby to carry guests to neighboring islands and local resorts.

The marina also offers a suite of convenience services, including 4K internet, in-house cleaning crews, 24/7 on-site security and an ATM (to be installed in early summer). 

Additionally, Phase 1 construction of the multi-story Shoppes in Marina Village has been completed. All Phase 1 Shoppes have been reserved, and tenants will move in by mid-May.

The Shoppes will feature three restaurants, a coffee shop, hair salon, gelato shop, a chandlery, and more. By July, the Shoppes will also feature a sports bar with a private beach available to patrons. Applications are now being accepted for Phase 2 tenants for the Shoppes in Marina Village.
