Azimut Yachts Boat Review

40 Azimut Yacht Review

Source: Boaterslife.com

The Azimut range of boats is probably the most elegant range in the world of luxury yachts. Azimut Yachts has done it again.  The quality of finish on this Azimut 40 is that expected of a luxury yacht double its length.

Boater’s LIFE is one of the few privileged to be able to say they have been onboard an Azimut 40. This is simply due to the fact that there are few 40 foot flybridge cruisers in the world that can compete with this quality and exceptional design. Every last detail, regardless of its importance, has been designed with perfection in mind. This really is an exquisite boat and one to take seriously if you are looking for an elegant and prestigious 40 footer.

New Design for 2005

This new 40 footer replaces the popular 39 ft Fly and will become the benchmark for the 40 ft yachts in years to come. Powered by twin Cummins® diesels (380hp ea), this boat has the power (27kt cruise 31kt top) to get you there in a style and comfort never before seen in a 40 footer. Bigger cabins, larger galley, bigger closets and the newest in manufacturing technology put this 40′ Azimut at the top of the class worldwide.

Greatness in an inner virtue. This is the philosophy underpinning the design of the Azimut 40. The roominess of this yacht is amazing, giving your emotions all the space you deserve.

Accommodations:

The accommodations are comprised of a double bedded cabin forward, together with a twin bedded guest cabin. Both these cabins have their own en-suite facilities for extra privacy onboard.

The spacious saloon offers a Hi-Low dining table with leather upholstery in the form of an “L” shaped settee to port. There is also a smaller settee to starboard. The sliding door to the aft deck simply adds that quality touch.

The galley onboard is one of the highest standards imaginable in a boat of this size. This equipment includes:-

• 2 Burner Stove With Oven/Grill,
• Granite Counter Tops
• Refrigerator,
• Stainless Steel Sink Unit

Infusion Technology

Luxury yacht maker Azimut Yachts (Turin, Italy) recently adopted closed mold resin infusion in place of hand layup for its hull production method — the first large motoryacht manufacturer to do so. The decision was motivated by a desire to improve quality, cut build time and reduce hull weight as well as improve working conditions.

The infusion method chosen is one in which the core itself, either foam or balsa, acts as a resin flow medium, facilitated by grooves cut in the core surface. Offered by DIAB Inc. (DeSoto, Texas, U.S.A.), the Core Infusion method eliminates the need for sacrificial resin distribution media, thus reducing consumables cost and layup time. Resin waste also is reduced. Because when a resin medium is used, a significant quantity of resin cures in the medium itself and in the multiple inlet lines required, according to DIAB. The grooved cores are supplied by DIAB in ready-to-use kit form; prepared to the customer’s design specifications so that no additional handling or cutting is necessary.

After 18 months of production trials, Azimut is using the technology to build the Azimut 40, with a fully cored hull (see photo). Azimut Yachts says the over time, the closed mold method will be used not only for hulls, but decks and superstructure parts as well, in its entire model range. Compared to previous hand layup methods, time savings of as much as 45 percent are expected in hull production.
