US boatbuilder Carver says it invested 60,000 hours in the design of its new luxury cruiser, the Voyager 530 Pilothouse

And it appears it’s been time well spent. The flagship of a range that spans 20 motoryachts, sedans and cruisers, the Voyager 530 retains its maker’s trademark efficient use of interior space, combined with an injection of European megayacht styling – both inside and out.

This is a tri-level craft with all the appointments one would expect, given its $1m-plus pricetag.

With the flybridge/command deck comprising a large dinette, lounge with seating for eight and a wet bar, it is an excellent entertainment area. Located to starboard is an easy-to-access hatch that leads directly to the pilothouse on the main deck level.

In tune with its big-boat personality, there is also storage for a dinghy up to 10ft in length.

At main deck level a spacious aft deck leads to the saloon via large stainless-steel sliding doors. Here there is a large L-shaped convertible sofa with adjoining cocktail table to starboard. An island bar located to port introduces the fully-equipped galley and adjoining entertainment centre.

Throughout the main deck level and below, custom cabinetry is finished in rich cherry wood.

Meanwhile, at the pilothouse helm seating for six surrounds the captain with family and friends, keeping the entire group involved in every aspect of the voyage.

The helm area is completed by an overhead console and a generous navigation package that can include a range of optional pilothouse electronic equipment such as video monitoring system, GPS, plotter and more. An adjustable command seat features power-assisted controls for precise seating positions.

According to Carver, the 530 can accommodate up to eight in three private staterooms including a master stateroom aft, a guest stateroom forward and a side stateroom with bunks (this can be configured as an optional office).

Entry to living accommodation is via a carpeted curved companionway which leads forward and to starboard of the main pilothouse helm station.

Amidships, the master stateroom boasts a private head, queen island berth, hanging storage and optional entertainment centre. The guest stateroom also features a queen-size island berth with private access to the head.

The 530’s fibreglass hull measures 16.38m with a 4.67m beam and 1.45m draft. Powered by the standard twin 450hp Cummins 6CTA diesel inboards, it has an indicated top speed of over 24kt and cruises efficiently at around 20kt.
