47 Grand Banks Eastbay & 70-foot Aleutian Pilothouse

Grand Banks Trawlers

Source: Boating Life Magazine

A Grand Banks Yacht is designed and built for cruising. The long lasting and far-reaching popularity of these boats is evidence that they can be depended upon to perform as promised: to take their owners and guests securely and comfortably wherever they want to go.  Weather not cooperating? Don’t worry; inside steering provides comfort and protection during those unpredictable bad weather days.

There are many, many details in the design that have proven to be invaluable to the serious cruiser. Many of these design details are from the original Grand Banks 36 and are still relevant today. Others have been incorporated into the boat as they have been developed. All have a common purpose: to make cruising easier and more enjoyable.

Once you step aboard these luxurious trawlers and handsome cruising boats, you’ll find it difficult to step off.

What’s New in 2005?

Grand Banks Launches Swift and Stylish New Addition to the Eastbay Series – Banks 47 Eastbay FB

The Grand Banks 47 Eastbay FB was featured in the 2005 Miami show along with its predecessor, the stunning Grand Banks 58 Eastbay FB.

The latest addition to Grand Banks’ Eastbay Series of yachts, this two-stateroom craft is a head-turner in every way. And, as with all Grand Banks yachts, the quality of manufacturing is apparent in every detail. The hull of the 47 Eastbay FB is solid fiberglass below the chine and cored with vacuum-bagged PVC foam in the topsides. A smooth ride and exceptional performance is always guaranteed with the authentic C. Raymond Hunt hull design. With a standard power package of twin 700 HP engines and optional engines up to 720 HP, the 47 Eastbay FB quietly enjoys top speeds exceeding 30 knots and easily cruises at 25.

Its high-quality hull design sports cruising speeds in the mid- 20-knot range, but its story is not just about performance.

Built to the exacting standards that Grand Banks owners have known for decades, this flybridge model offers elegant styling, generous standard amenities and comfortable accommodations.

Throughout the yacht, finely milled wood work, cedar-lined hanging lockers, chrome fittings, crown molding, and seamless Corian® countertops underline many of the finer details one expects in a Grand Banks-built boat. A graceful staircase to the flybridge curves gently up from the cockpit, marking yet another design choice that is at once elegant and practical.

Inside, the standard layout features a queen-size island berth with en suite head and a smartly furnished U-galley to port. The VIP stateroom and head face opposite the galley, and finish off the lower accommodations deck.

On the main level, a generous, enclosed salon offers comfortable settee seating, a premium Stidd® helm seat, and panoramic views for its guests and captain alike.

A prized optional layout features an office that faces opposite the down-galley. Easily converting into a private double stateroom, this modular concept grants owners the flexibility to suit a wide variety of needs. Additional options include twin engine power up to (2x) 720 horsepower power plants, giving the boat an estimated top speed exceeding 30 knots.

Grand Banks’ Vice-President of Sales, Neil McCurdy, is excited about the new addition to the already successful Eastbay Series.

“With a generous supply of standard equipment, Grand Banks has eliminated the ‘bait and switch’ from boat-buying. With the all-new 47 Eastbay FB, Grand Banks provides owners the freedom and luxury of a well-equipped yacht in a size manageable for active couples and families,” McCurdy says.

Although not its debut, Grand Banks will be showing the largest, and most luxurious yacht in the Grand Banks Aleutian Series.

Reaching upwards of 27 knots, the 70 Aleutian CP cruises swiftly in style. Its gracious accommodations include three private staterooms, four heads, additional crew’s quarters, plus an expansive aft cockpit that sets a beautiful stage for on-board entertaining.

The 70CP was built on the acclaimed Tom Fexas-designed hull Grand Banks first introduced with the 64-foot Aleutian. With its distinctive flared bow keeping topsides dry and comfortable, the hull is built to the highest FRP standards to be stable and safe in all sea conditions.

This raised pilothouse yacht is just as sure to steal the show.

The Aleutian CP version has a similar configuration to the 64, but extends upon the aft deck to include a gorgeous cockpit area ideal for swimming, fishing, or just enjoying the outdoors!

The lower helm station leaves no stone unturned.

Along with a traditional teak wheel in the lower helm station, there’s a bench settee for guests, a Stidd® helm chair for the captain, and plenty of space for instrumentation and other essentials.

For ease of use, lighted steps lead from the helm station to the staterooms below. Most importantly, the main electronics console is large enough to display duplicate systems so the captain feels comfortable around-the-clock.

Interior details include three generous staterooms plus crew’s quarters with a private entry. Included in the standard and optional highlights are four heads–three private, en suite, and one semi-private head and shower.

In the optional layout, a nine-foot square room can be used as a sitting area or office that converts quickly into a private double-bed stateroom.

Aft of this common area is the oversized master stateroom complete with head, walk-in shower and cedar-lined, walk-in closet. The guest stateroom features a raised, queen-sized island berth. In all areas, chilled-water air conditioning with individual controls translates into comfortable all-weather cruising.
