Hatteras 6300 Raised Pilothouse

Hatteras Yachts

The 6300 is the first in a new series of stylish motoryachts from Hatteras. She’s unlike anything you’ve seen before from this builder, and the video is a must-see to take it all in.

Though Hatteras has been building motoryachts for years, graceful exterior styling has not been one of their trademarks…until now. The new 6300 started from a clean sheet of paper and its hard to find a straight line anywhere on the yacht. Key features include three separate staterooms, EACH with their own ensuite facilities, upper and lower helm stations, and a huge dinghy platform and hidden davit located on the extended bridgedeck aft.

At once, the 6300 is as much a luxury private yacht for 6 as she is a high-end corporate entertaining vessel. Hatteras has maxed out the interior room on the 63 all the way out to the sidedecks and the main saloon is nothing short of expansive. When mealtime rolls around, the chef can also stay in the action since the galley is on the same level and just forward of the saloon. Even the traditional bulkhead between saloon and lower helm is gone, replaced instead with a stainless-steel, teak-tredded stairway leading from the lower to upper helm.

For short-handed situations the lower helm has a heavy-duty pilothouse door to starboard that leads directly out to the sidedeck, which is relatively wide given the interior room in the saloon. Moving forward and down, the 6300 manages to combine three staterooms with three head/shower combos without crowding any of the spaces.

Out on the water, the 6300 hopped onto plane fairly quickly for a yacht of this size and exhibited a steady ride at speed in a two-foot beam sea. Docking is aided by the upper helm (which is fully to port) so its easy to see aft, and there’s room for all your top executives or VIP friends up here. All in all, the new 6300 breaks the mold for Hatteras, and offers American buyers the kind of craftmanship, service, AND styling they’ve been looking for in a big motoryacht built for owner-operators.
