Newest sports cruiser in Adelaide features unique joystick control for ease of use

The first US-built Sea Ray 350 Sundancer sports cruiser featuring the joystick controlled Axius sterndrive system has arrived in Australia.

Developed by Cummins MerCuriser Diesel, the Axius sterndrive features independently articulating sterndrives that allow even a novice skipper to master the most intricate slow-speed manoeuvers in tight marinas.

The joystick control allows the 37ft boat to be moved sideways and to spin in its own length.

Andrew Chapman, whose family are the biggest marina developers in South Australia and who is the dealer principal for Sea Ray, told BoatPoint the new Sea Ray 350 Sundancer was the ultimate style statement.

“It is a work of art that transcends luxury boating,” Chapman says, “They are comfortable, elegant, powerful and luxurious. Once you have owned a Sea Ray, you will never look back.”

The 350 Sundancer features a large open cockpit protected by a solid fiberglass bimini top and a stern platform that can easily accommodate a inflatable tender.

Inside, the open cabin features a double island berth in the bow and a large lounge that converts into a double berth. The seating area at the stern of the boat can also be converted to a double berth, allowing six to sleep aboard.

The galley features a stainless steel sink, a microwave oven and a cooktop which has a fitted cover to increase the workspace.

Storage areas are located throughout the boat.
