Volvo Introduces New Marine Technology in Sweden

Nearly 50 marine journalists from 14 countries gathered at the Volvo Penta test center, Krossholmen, in Gothenburg, Sweden, for the introduction of new engines and piloting systems.

“This event marks the next phase of integration of new technologies to make boating easier,” V.P. of product management Johan Wasterang said after his presentation during Volvo Penta’s global press event.

Eight Volvo Penta executives gave presentations and then turned over 6 powerboats from 25′ to 55‘ — outfitted with new engines and/or technology — to the journalists for testing. In addition, 8 product specialists from Volvo Penta headquarters in Gothenburg and 12 representatives from the company’s global product management team were on hand to provide information.

It was a weeklong event, with 3 groups of journalists brought in for the presentation and boat testing at Krossholmen. Volvo Penta made its presentations to marine media from Sweden, Denmark and Norway on the first day, followed on the second day by England, Germany, Switzerland, France, Italy, Spain and Portugal, and on the third day by the Americas (the U.S., Argentina, Brazil and Ontario, Canada).

The group from the Americas also toured the Volvo Penta factory in Skovde, Sweden, and the Volvo Museum in Gothenburg.
