Hatteras GT 70: Built For Long-range Fishing Expeditions

Powered by standard twin 1,900-bhp Caterpillar C-32A diesels or optional 2,600-hp MTUs, the Hatteras GT 70 is built on a variable deadrise hull with a sharp entry to provide a fast, dry, stable ride offshore. But we know some boat owners and their families may want to add that extra margin of comfort that a gyro stabilizer can bring in adverse sea conditions.

The optional Gyro Package for the Hatteras GT 70 integrates a Seakeeper 26 designed for vessels up to 100 feet, providing the yacht with best-in-class stability. This high-tech, computer-controlled gyro offers many benefits including low electrical consumption. The Hatteras Team designed a new deck hatch for easy access to the gyro and the yacht’s steering gear. The hull’s structure also was modified to accept the gyro’s custom mounting configuration, and to transfer the stabilization loads to the rest of the GT 70’s solid resin-infused laminate hull bottom.

In addition to the large Seakeeper, the Gyro Package incorporates a new cockpit fuel tank that raises the GT 70’s total fuel capacity by approximately a third to 2,830 gallons, extending cruising range beyond 500 nautical miles. Whether you are targeting big game in the canyons or taking a family cruise along the coast, this extra tank will let you go farther and make fewer trips to the fuel dock in between.
