October 12, 2017 2:59 pm

This string of verdant islands follows a sweeping southeasterly curve, making it an idyllic route for a one-way yacht vacation. With dramatic landscapes of lush tropical forests framed by sheer volcanic backdrops, this area has yet to be invaded by mass tourism.

St. Vincent

Did you know St. Vincent is home to the second oldest botanic garden in the Western Hemisphere? Since the mid-1700s, rare plant species have been cultivated here. St. Vincent is covered with tropical rainforest and full of eco-adventure. La Soufriere, a large, active volcano in the northwest corner of the island reaches a height of 4,049 feet.

La Soufrière is the highest point on the island and out of all the peaks in the country of St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Many charter guests when wanting to stretch their sea legs take a guided hike to the crater.

Bequia

Although the largest of Grenadines islands, Bequia has a small-town charm. The island’s enduring seafaring heritage is one of its most striking features. Virtually every Bequia family has some connection to the sea either past or present, and today’s fishermen, sailors and boat-builders are happy to share their marine traditions with visitors. Quiet Port Elizabeth is home to symbols of the island’s antiquity with galleries and artisans’ shops.

Mustique

Rub shoulders with the rich and famous on this 1,400-acre private island. With a blend of elegance and luxury with tropical perfection, it’s no wonder it’s known for being a hideout of some of the world’s most discerning “yachties.” Mustique is home to only one hotel, the elegant Cotton House. Basil’s Bar, a landmark destination on the island, is currently closed for refurbishment but will be up and running for the winter 2017-18 season and serving its famous rum drinks.

Tobago Cays

The waters surrounding this intimate cluster of five uninhabited cays is teeming with green turtles, coral reefs, and tropical fish.

The blissful lagoons and crystal-clear waters make for idyllic yachting anchorages. The Cays are a scuba diver’s dream and a beachcomber’s paradise. You may just have to pinch yourself to make sure it’s real.

Fun fact: This was one of the filming locations for Pirates of the Caribbean!

Grenada

Grenada is home to some of the friendliest people in the Caribbean. The island has a rich history, countless beaches, secluded coves, fragrant spice plantations and tranquil nature trails. Activity Suggestion: Molinere underwater sculpture park was the inception of Jason deCaires Taylor’s artistic career. It’s home to 75 sculptures covering an area of 800 square meters. While the park can be explored while snorkeling, to really see all of the details, an easy scuba dive is recommended. Carriacou and Petite Martinique, the two offshore islands of this nation, boast unspoiled coral reefs. Did you know that Carriacou has one gas station and 200 rum shops?
