Ned Bruck, a licensed yacht broker at Denison Yacht Sales, assisted a Japanese yachtsman on the closing of a 75’ Baglietto Yacht in Athens, Greece earlier this morning (January 5th).
Due to the current economic conditions in Greece, the closing was a little more complicated. Constantly changing closing conditions, and new government restrictions created a few obstacles that were overcome thanks to the local expertise of partner yacht brokers in Greece, along with a Greek maritime attorney that was helpful in navigating the final details.
Bruck has sent yachts to Greece but this is his first sale on a yacht in Greek waters and he says this was a difficult deal to consummate, but well worth the effort because the economic conditions there are creating great opportunities for yacht buyers.
The yacht will be transported from Athens, Greece to Yokohama, Japan (via multiple stops, including one in Fort Lauderdale) and will be cruising the South China Sea.
Ned says he is now more knowledgeable about the process and customs procedures in selling a Greek based yacht, adding he, “will continue to seek more yacht-buying opportunities in this part of Europe.”
