Boaters Enjoy Weekend Adventure at Bimini Rendezvous

Denison boaters enjoyed a memorable weekend adventure at this year’s Bimini Rendezvous Sept. 2-5 at Resorts World Bimini. Sixteen boats and more than 80 people took part in the Labor Day weekend getaway, which included snorkeling and stingray excursions, festive dinner parties, friendly competitions and activities for the entire family.

The Labor Day Rendezvous explored various areas of Bimini with events like a conch cracking competition, snorkeling at a plane wreck, water activities at Paradise Beach, a scavenger hunt, rose wine tasting, yacht hop and casino night.

Boaters kicked off the Labor Day Weekend with a Junkanoo party overlooking the beach. The dinner spread included lobster salad martinis, fresh caught grouper, Bimini bread, and other delectables. After a welcome from President Bob Denison, the group had its first Winslow cup challenge, the conch cracking competition. Teams Triumph II, Oriana and Triple Screwed were neck and neck, with Triumph II winning by cracking his three conch in the quickest time.

A highlight for many guests was the snorkeling day on Saturday. Client brought their boats to Sapona and Honeymoon Harbour for a day of snorkeling, grilling, and playing around with Seabobs. Seeing the sharks and stingrays up close in the crystal clear blue waters was surreal. 

To wrap up the weekend, Denison hosted a chic white party at the rooftop infinity pool which had views overlooking the marina as well as the gorgeous sunset. Sanctuary, a 63′ Marquis, was announced as the winner of the weekend’s coveted Winslow Cup – a result of their competitive spirit and teamwork to complete challenges. They narrowly defeated team Sweet Melissa II. The night ended with an breathtaking firework display down at the beach club.
