Vicem Yachts Finalizes Move From Istanbul to Antalya, Turkey

May 4, 2011 6:33 pm

Yacht builder Vicem Yachts plans to shut down its facility in the Turkish capital Istanbul, and transfer all production of their yachts to 2 facilities in Antalya, also located in Turkey.

Vicem CEO Alberto Perrone Da Zara, who joined Vicem Yachts from the Ferretti Group 2 years ago, has also left the company to pursue other opportunities.

Vicem did not indicate if any workers would be impacted but did state Vicem Yachts’ sales offices in the United States, Europe and Australia will remain open. Vicem Yachts founder Sebatthin Hafisoglu will take over as CEO.

The Antalya facilities are on the Turkish southeast Mediterranean coast. “This move is part of the new Vicem Yachts 3-year industrial plan started at the end of 2009,” the Vicem Yachts said in a statement. “The launch of the Vulcan Line and, more recently, of the Vanguard Line, Vicem’s third line of open yachts, characterize the fundamental stages of the plan. Together with the Vintage Line, the yard’s core business, all 3 lines will be built in Vicem’s 2 Antalya facilities.”

The consolidation will allow for all the company’s production under one roof, making the move cost-effective. The facility also provides direct access to the sea.
