Tecnomar Yachts Begins Construction of 40M Impero Superyacht

Italian luxury yacht builder Tecnomar announced the commencement of construction to the first hull of the 40-meter Impero megayacht line. The signal was given when the keel of the new vessel was laid in a ceremony with the owner in attendance.

As is the tradition in the yachting industry, a special ‘good-luck’ coin was placed in the keel to bring forth blessing and fortune in construction and the hope of good sailing for the vessel.

The ceremony took place at Tecnomar’s shipyard in late October. Her construction will be in aluminum and built to a design by Luca Dini. She is destined to be noted under RINA’s Green Plus certification, a step forward in best environmental practices. An engine package of twin 1,920 horse power MTU 16V 2000 M94s are expected to power her to a top speed of 19-knots with a very comfortable cruising speed of 17 knots.

“This ceremony represents an important step forward in the company growth process started in 2009,” says Tecnomar president Giovanni Costantino.

“We are the only shipyard which implemented and completed a massive reorganisation and industrialisation plan in just two years,” he says. “Our fleet today is made up of 21 new models, and recently four important sales have been finalized — this 40m (131ft) yacht, a 45m (148ft) Impero yacht, a 33m (108ft) Regale yacht and the first sailing yacht, the Silent 76 Technosail.”

The Impero line marks a new concept where space, comfort, natural light and safety are combined with state-of-art design, performance and new technologies for environmental protection.
