Chinese Boat Show Planned For Spring 2013 in Guangdong

The government in Guangdong, China, is planning to build a superyacht market that includes plans for four yacht bases and two international cruise ports by 2020.

Yacht-related activities also are planned for the region, including the Boat China & Water Sports Expo, organized by the Guangdong Yacht Industry Association. Boat China will be held May 10-12, 2013, at the China Import & Export Fair Pazhou Complex.

Boat China includes indoor, outdoor and on-the-water exhibition areas and has attracted such builders as Brunswick Boat Group and Sunseeker, the Guangdong trade group said. Authorities are working on policies for customs clearance, yacht-docking locations, the recognition of yacht licenses and yacht driver’s licenses and other issues.

“On the basis of the Guangdong yacht market advantage and policy support, worldwide insiders pay more attention on the China market,” Guangdong trade group Wongzhaoyun said in a statement. “In order to supply them a good platform to explore the market, Boat China will do our best to make the platform become a perfect one.”

Guangdong, one of the most prosperous provinces in China, is in the southern part of the country and borders the special administrative regions of Hong Kong and Macau, according to a statement from the Guangdong trade group. The region is also the largest economy of a sub-national entity in terms of GDP (5.26 trillion yuan, or $836.19 billion) in Asia, except for Tokyo, and ranks sixth or seventh in the world, the trade group said.
