Sunseeker Yachts Moving Forward with Sunseeker 155 Build

Despite widespread misreporting of the status of the deal that will see Sunseeker Yachts acquired by Chinese behemoth Dalian Wanda Group, it is actually yet to be finalized.

In what an anonymous source at Deloitte’s M&A department called “the largest investment by China in Britain”, Dalian Wanda is set to acquire a 92% controlling stake in the Britain’s most prolific yachtbuilder. And, whilst “it is interesting that the biggest foray into the UK by the Chinese [to date] is a luxury brand”, said our source, Sunseeker’s marketing and PR manager Gemma Marsh confirmed that reports the £320 million deal is finalised are untrue. “We are waiting for the Chinese authorities [to approve the deal] so we’re unsure at this time when it’s going to go through.”

“We’re hoping the deal will be done in the short-term but we really don’t know at the moment”, Marsh said. Whilst a date is unknown its eventual absolution is guaranteed, says Marsh, and the delay is just a formality meeting Chinese compliance procedures. “And even when the deal does go through everything will remain the same”, she added.

This will include the continuation of the Sunseeker 155, due for delivery in Spring 2014, and at 47.24m the yard’s largest ever project.

Sunseeker will, therefore, be promoting the brand with the usual prominence at the forthcoming Monaco Yacht Show. In line with the company’s upward LOA trajectory, and the impending launch of its new flagship, the yard will be exhibiting its largest model to date, the 40m, as well as the Predator 115.

Developed following the unprecedented popularity of the 37m yacht and the subsequent success of the 34m yacht, 30m yacht and Predator 130, the 40m yacht incorporates all the best elements of the 37m yacht but also enjoys other exciting new elements like balconies and increased exterior deck space.

The Sunseeker Predator 115 follows in the success of her award-winning big sister, the Predator 130. Although smaller in length, the Predator 115 retains many of the stunning characteristics that have made the Predator 130 so successful. She has the exterior deck space of a superyacht but remains Predator in her look with an exemplary level of on board luxury and, taking inspiration from the 34-meter vessel’s accommodation plan, can comfortably accommodate a party of up to 10 guests in 5 cabins, with a crew of 5.
