Otam Introduces New Millennium 80 Open Sports Yacht

Italian yacht builder Otam has announced its intention to build a new 80ft open sports yacht, the Millennium 80 Open, designed as a superyacht chase-boat.

Rendering of Otam 80 Open

The Millennium 80 Open ‘retains all the technical virtues of its predecessors’ says Otam – a classic deep-V hull with a generous dead-rise, and options for two or four engines (the leisure or performance versions – the original twin MTU 2600hp diesels coupled with the Arneson surface-drives can be replaced by four MTUs with Trimax surface-drives). Its top speed is 50 knots but Otam is still experimenting with propellers.

Starting with the proven Fabio Buzzi hull form, the yacht designer Alberto Mancini wanted to emphasizespeed, an immediate perception of a super-sport yacht, with a protective windscreen that wraps around both sides of the cockpit and terminates with the large carbon air intakes, clearly derived from automotive lines.

The deck layout was specifically designed to take advantage of the open cockpit: twin C-shaped settees that can be covered with the Bimini top (or an optional hard top), and a double bar completely equipped for both a day trip or a real open air passage: ice makers, capacious refrigerators and grills. The spacious sun bathing area is astern, above the tender garage, with another sun-pad zone on the foredeck.

The internal layout is available in three or the four cabin versions, with the owners suite astern and the VIP suite forward, with two twin cabins, or as completely customized guest cabins. The Otam 80 Open represents a yacht that promises speed with a twist of luxury. Here is a combination of speed and sophistication that you rarely find, making OTAM a welcome addition to the high-performance sport yacht market.
