Proposal seals different kind of deal at boat show

November 8, 2016 8:05 am

Deals get sealed every year at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, but this year there a new type of deal was sealed for Denison, which has participated at every Fort Lauderdale boat show since it started.

When Jason Perez wanted to propose to his girlfriend, sailing instructor Megan Keyser, he had the perfect idea – on a sailboat, with the proposal spelled out in nautical signal flags. He reached out to Denison Palm Beach yacht broker Matthew Morrison and Bob Denison, who thought the idea was a perfect fit.

Photographer Ted Swoboda quickly agreed to come on board as well. The plan was to ask Megan to identify the message in the sailboat flags to win a Denison contest. “When I got to the dock Matthew confessed to me he was suffering high anxiety – what if she says no?” photographer Ted Swoboda said. “I assured Matthew that would never happen … I hope.”

Jason’s plan was hatched to perfection on a Beneteau Oceanis 60 on display in the show at Pier 66, and the Denison crew became instantly involved in the emotional moment and gladly shared in the excitement.

And just five minutes after Jason proposed to Megan, it started pouring down rain. Congratulations to Jason and Megan – we wish them a lifetime of happiness.
