Beneteau MC4 Features Walkthrough Video

July 3, 2017 2:37 pm

Beneteau Power has dramatically increased the quality of design and build in the MC4. Join us as BoatTest.com takes a look at the features this stylish motoryacht offers:

The following opinions are solely those of BoatTest.com and its test captain.

Hi, Capt. Steve for BoatTest.com, and last year we did a review of the Monte Carlo MC5. This year we’re going to review the latest launch from the Monte Carlo shipyards, the MC4. We’re going to take a special look at the design and styling and see how they’ve done.

At the transom – electric grill, courtesy lights, cutting surface reversible, sink; the sink can also be covered to give you more working room. We also have a full-beam swim platform and this one is hydraulically actuated so it not only can be used to launch a tender or PWC, but can serve as a much enjoyed teak beach. It can be controlled from a panel in the cockpit or this handheld remote control.

The aft cockpit takes advantage of the protection from the extended overhead of the flying bridge, giving us clearance of 6 feet 5 inches. There is seating to the stern with storage underneath, and notice up above we have the optional extending shade.

These cleverly engineered doors give you a wide open space, 5 feet 6 inches by 6 feet 1 inch, that seamlessly blends the inside with the outside on a single level of teak decking.

The settee over to the starboard side is U-shaped; over 30 different material choices are offered. The table, I have to say, it’s pretty solid – the rubberized paint, stitched leather, expands, Alpi wood in the center. This piece can move over, also offers convenient storage underneath.

To the portside, a galley up with a solid surface Decotek counter, double burner stove with pop-up fiddles, single basin sink with a decorative faucet. Below storage, dishwasher, a convection microwave oven and refrigerator.

As we move up, we have clever storage. And I say that this is clever because at the end we have space for television to be selected by this boat’s owner. And you would never know that this is solid wood with a cream lacquered finish.

Opening side windows to the port and starboard allow fresh air to flow through. Moving down below we have a companionway over to the port hand side, wide open space with plenty of natural light. And this leads us to a foyer with one, two, three doors.

Let’s take a look forward at the VIP stateroom. Well, we’ve got an island queen berth; dual opening portlights to both sides. Clearly there’s a theme of letting a lot of natural light into this boat. Dual skylights overhead; you’re looking at this in natural light, we’re not adding any to it. Naturally these include the usual blackout shades and bug screen.

Let’s take a look at the master stateroom. We have a beautiful master stateroom – full beam, variable geometry to the headroom going from 6-7 down to 6 feet 2 inches to 4 feet 5 inches in this section. Beautiful hull side windows to both sides with opening portlights at the top. They have a magnificent glowing effect at night and these windows really have come to define the brand.

There’s additional storage to both sides, but on this side they’ve added cushions, but I’d like to see this made into more of a chaise lounge in front of the window.

You can always tell a Beneteau boat by how they use their materials. There’s a difference between the cushions, soft touch of the bulkheads, the overhead which are hard plastic. And it’s this choice of materials that give the client more bang for the buck; Beneteau uses the quality materials where they need to and not where they don’t.

Now here’s a nice feature of this master stateroom – an ensuite head. Now we also have a guest head that doubles as a dayhead. This one has much the same features as the master head with a walk-in shower, teak decking, vessel sink allowing premium storage underneath, opening portlight and skylight up above for natural light.

Again quality materials where they need to be. Solid core doors, this is Alpi oak and magelite. Coming back up the companionway, courtesy lighting to both side, storage on the port bulkhead includes a combination washer/dryer, trim is stitched leather.

The bow is accessed from side decks to both sides and these in turn are accessed from steps in the cockpit. Forward, there are two sunpads that tilt up into chaise lounges, both have embedded speakers. And to the starboard side is a stereo control and not a remote.

Right here we have PVC weave diamante snow with espresso piping. Well, plenty of room and great visibility in this flybridge. Let’s take a look at some of the details. To the stern, there’s a chilled box right next to U-shaped seating that wraps around a teak table.

Moving forward we have a double-wide lounger. The center piece comes out so we can make it into a chair. And that’s all right next to the helm. Just behind the helm entertainment center with storage underneath, sink, optional grill will go in this position.

Here is an interesting feature – turnbuckles on the Bimini to make sure everything is nice and tight. Here’s another nice touch – LED rope lights in the Bimini top.

Well, in my opinion it’s not fair to compare this boat to her luxurious sister, the MC5. This Monte Carlo MC4 stands on her own. And that’s my full features walkthrough of the Monte Carlo MC4. For BoatTest.com, I’m Capt. Steve. We’ll see you on the water.
