6 Places To Say ‘I Do’ On Your Next Charter Yacht Vacation

November 15, 2017 1:17 am

Have you ever thought about getting married on the beach?  Maybe on a tropical lush hillside with an 18th century sugar mill in the background, overlooking the Caribbean Sea? What about on an uninhabited island smaller than ½ an acre?  Or on the bow of a super glamorous yacht?

The U.S. and British Virgin Islands are some of the most beautiful islands in the world. And they offer the perfect backdrop for any couple looking to have a destination wedding.

The best way to pull off your amazing day is to do it all from a crewed charter yacht.  Let us help you create your wedding flotilla, where all your friends and family can charter luxurious crewed yachts that can hop from island to island together. So, gather your friends, family and loved ones and start planning the wedding of a lifetime on a luxury yacht in the beautiful islands of the BVIs and the USVIs!

Annaberg Ruins, St. John, USVI

This old sugar mill was constructed in the 18th century and was used to make sugar, molasses, and of course rum.  The best time of the day to conduct the wedding ceremony is late afternoon, after the crowds have left and also providing you with spectacular sunset views.

The beautiful stone structures make for an incredible backdrop for wedding pictures. With intact ruins of a windmill and housing structures, breathtaking views of Leinster Bay, Jost Van Dyke and Tortola, and St. John’s beautiful wildlife surrounding you, this is a perfect location to say “I do.”

Sandy Spit/Sandy Cay, BVI

These uninhabited cays are just off the East Coast of Jost Van Dyke and truly are like a Corona commercial. Sandy Spit is the smaller of the two and is less than ½ an acre, covered in soft, white sand and can take a maximum of 10 minutes to walk around, if you try really hard. Sandy Cay is about 13 acres in size, with a small hiking trail cutting through the island.

Yachts can easily anchor just off the beach on both islands, allowing quick and easy access via dinghy.  Couples have built temporary arches out of driftwood, with seashells as accents, to really create a one-of-a-kind ceremony.  End your beautiful evening with champagne toasts followed by 5-star cuisine prepared by your personal chef onboard.

Magen’s Bay, St. Thomas, USVI

This beach is located on the north side of the island. It’s the longest beach, stretching almost 1 mile.  The anchorage is well protected, making it the ultimate spot to enjoy watersports (jet skis, stand-up paddleboards, tubing and so much more) before or after the wedding ceremony.  There are also several pavilions in the park, making it easy for vendors to get to and set up anything from a beach BBQ to a DJ’d wedding reception.

Trunk Bay, St. John, USVI

Trunk Bay has been named one of the top 10 beaches in the world by Condé Nast Traveler. It’s a great spot to spend the day on your charter yacht, as the famous Underwater Trail runs 650 feet long, offering spectacular snorkeling.  This beach faces westward, providing you with outstanding sunset views, which will help create those unforgettable wedding photos. There are facilities on the beach, providing the bride and groom a place to change into their wedding attire.

Cane Garden Bay, Tortola, BVI

Cane Garden Bay is located on the northwestern side of Tortola and is perfect for a relaxing day of watersports, rum tasting at Callwood Distillery, or just sunbathing on the beach. The beach is one of the longest in the BVIs, so there’s plenty of space to have your own private ceremony.

Or have the wedding ceremony on the bow of your yacht, with all your guests gathered around, then head to shore for the wedding reception. With multiple beach bars and restaurants on this long strip of beach, the celebration can go on for hours, as live music is frequently offered at Myett’s and Quito’s. You’ll be dancing barefoot under a sky full of stars into the wee hours of the night.

Cow Wreck Beach, Anegada, BVI

Anegada, the “drowned island,” has a very special place in my heart.  It’s unlike any of the other Virgin Islands and most closely resembles the beautiful Bahamian islands more than anything. With the highest point approximately 28 ft, this sandy paradise is a must see while on your crewed charter yacht and could be the next place you marry your best friend.

Spend the day with your closest friends and family renting scooters, chasing the flamingos, and kiteboarding (one of the best spots in the world to enjoy this sport).  This beach faces Northwest, with great snorkeling just off the beach and the beach bar and grill can easily host your wedding reception.
