PRODIGIOUS II: Sea Ray 470 Sundancer Walkthrough

April 30, 2018 11:22 am

Hi, this is Dave Millett and we’re here in Newport Beach, California to do a walkthrough on the Sea Ray 470 Sundancer, a 2013, named Prodigious II.

She’s powered by twin Zeus Cummins engines, 480 horsepower each. The boat really gets up and goes. We also have a host of features and options on this yacht that aren’t found on many others: hydraulic swim platform, TV in the cockpit, air conditioning in the cockpit – everything to make this a really comfortable boat for the afternoon, the weekend in Catalina or a week wherever you want to go.

Let’s start our tour on the back of the boat or the stern as we call it. What we have here, is the hydraulic swim platform. It’s a great feature for everything from carrying your dinghy or a jet ski, to putting a couple teak chairs out here, putting it three inches under the water and cooling off on a hot afternoon. We have an integrated ladder over in the corner, so getting in and out of the water is easy. We have a trunk, so when you lift up this pad, lots of storage underneath for your water toys, canvas from the back of the boat, fender dock lines – whatever you want to use it for.

So moving out of the transom or off the back of the boat, we have our freshwater wash down here for when you get out of the water; we’ve got a nice stainless steel door here to keep everyone in the boat when you’re underway. Moving into the cockpit, we have this beautiful L-shaped settee, seating for 8 or 9 people – no problem. Moving over to the side of the cockpit, we have our electric grill, refrigerator, and down below, we have our nice wet bar area, sink, cup holders and more storage. And one of the great things about this cockpit is you have wonderful seating for a lot of people like this or you can open up the back gates or the back rest of the seats and it turns into a giant sunpad.

Now that we’re done with the back half of the cockpit, let’s move to the forward half or the helm area. So what we have here is a nice helm area, very spacious, seating for two side by side. We have all of our instrumentation here; you have 17-inch widescreen Raymarine displays. They’re touchscreen. They work great. You have all of the controls for everything on the boat that you need for navigating right here in front of us, from light switches to underwater lights to the electric sunroofs over my head. We also have our digital throttles over here. Then back here behind me is the joystick. You can do a host of things with it that make it very, very easy to maneuver.

Now one of the things you may or may not have noticed during this whole video is that this boat has been stationary the whole time. Nobody’s been driving it, I’ve been talking, the photographers have been doing their thing. This is called skyhook and it automatically locks on to GPS satellites and holds the boat in position – no problem.

And if you’d like to join the captain, you can move over to the beautiful L-shaped settee on the port side of the boat, more than large enough for 2 or 3 adults to sit or for one adult to stretch out and take a nap while you’re underway. If you’d like a little more leisure space, you can move to the bow where there’s two sunpads, plenty of room for two adults, super comfortable and a great way to spend the afternoon.

Let’s move down into the salon area. Over here on the starboard side we have a beautiful L-shaped settee, plenty of seating for you and your friends with a nice dining table. As we move through the salon, you’ll notice the great hardwood floors, beautiful hardly used in this yacht, moving around to the other side of the salon, we have plenty of storage for dishes and silverware, we have plenty of gunnels storage, microwave is up here, your electrical panels, your cooktop. Moving aft is a stand-up, full-sized refrigerator, and then moving further aft, you move into your guest stateroom with its own ensuite head.

Now moving forward into the master stateroom, we have the full-size queen Island bed, storage underneath, gunnel storage all around the top, separate head on one side, separate shower on the other. We move back into the cockpit and we have the engine access. The engine access is electrically actuated that will flip up at the touch of a button. She’s powered by twin Zeus Cummins engines with pod drives, 480 horsepower each, that make the boat cruise very nicely in the mid-20s with the top speed of just about 30 knots.
