2018 Monaco Yacht Show: 5 Things To Know

August 28, 2018 1:21 pm

Regarded as the most premier collection of superyachts the world has to offer, this year’s Monaco Yacht Show will play host yet again to the industry’s renowned shipyards, award-winning designers and suppliers of all things luxury.

Held at Port Hercules from September 26-29, it will feature more than 500 exhibitors and a stunning selection of roughly 125 superyachts on display, including those leading the sail, motor and explorer ranges.

With that in mind, whether you’re in the market for a new superyacht, interested in a one-of-kind-yacht charter experience or just want to get a glimpse of the latest onboard design trends, there are a few additional items worth noting in advance of the 2018 show.

1. The Superyacht Event of the Year

Gaëlle Tallarida, General Manager of the Monaco Yacht Show, put it this way in a recent statement: “We work in coordination with participating yacht brokers and shipyards in the interest, first and foremost, of the individual visitor, whether owner or future owner and to help new clients discover the world of luxury offered only by the superyacht industry,” she said. “The MYS has a duty to offer these visitors the best possible experience, with the supreme quality of the yachts on display as one of the leading criteria.”

Among the 2018 collection, 40 superyachts are reported to be brand-new designs.

2. Plenty of Fun for Captains and Crew

After four successful years, the official Captains & Crew Lounge will return to Port Hercules for its fifth consecutive outing, welcoming all captains and crew to enjoy a wide array of recreation during the show’s four days.

Set in a cozy yet modern environment over two floors, the C&C Lounge will offer free Wi-fi access, an area fit for spa-like relaxation (with massage reservations available) and a hub for games as well as more entertainment.

3. Next Generation of Yacht Owners Afoot

In an effort to keep up with more than just the latest and greatest in yacht trends, show organizers are consistently looking for new ways to attract the next wave of yacht owners, specifically young, self-made millennials who have a penchant for high-tech and innovation.

Perhaps, that’s why the Tenders & Toys exhibition was such a hit last year and will return for its second installment in 2018, replete with everything from jet packs and fly boards to amphibious vehicles and personal submarines.

4. Don’t Miss the Yacht Summit

Monaco Yacht Buyers Summit

Billed as an exclusive event tailored to potential new superyacht buyers and charterers, the Monaco Yacht Summit is an annual event in its third year that offers detailed information to clients through a series of panel discussions led by recognized experts from across the yachting industry.

In addition, attendees will have a chance to talk face-to-face with selected specialists who can answer their questions about various aspects of yacht charter, purchase, operation and ownership.

5. Check Out the Car Deck

If the eye-catching allure of the finest superyachts around isn’t enough to keep you interested, the Monaco Yacht Show is bringing back a popular exhibit, where in admirers of fine machinery get their fix via a display of brand-new luxury vehicles on the Car Deck.

Featuring manufacturers that specialize in custom-made vehicles, hypercars and the design of personalized models, the exhibit will offer 10 or more limited editions/unique prototypes, some of which will be available for test drives by potential buyers.
