The New Line Of Excess Catamarans [Excess Talks]

Marina Nazario | September 8, 2020

Learn more about Excess catamarans with ‘Excess Talks’ interviews featuring Bruno Belmont.

Years ago, catamarans were built to maximize sailing performance. They were owned by thrill-seeking sailors willing to sacrifice comfort onboard for the adrenaline rush of high speed. Over the past 30 years, that formula has been completely inverted. Today, you’ll notice that about 90% of all new catamarans are built exclusively to maximize comfort on board.

The pleasure of sailing gradually became a secondary consideration as designers worked to accommodate the myriad of amenities demanded by their customers. Space for air conditioning, king-sized beds, watermakers, refrigeration capacity, and high-tech entertainment systems had taken priority over delivering a rewarding sailing experience.

In conformance with 2020’s theme of global disruption, the team at CNB unveiled the new Excess line of catamarans designed to restore the pleasures of a sweet sailing yacht without sacrificing onboard comforts demanded by today’s buyers.

So how did that happen?

Join legendary catamaran designer Bruno Belmont, along with famous ocean racing sailor, Marc Guillemot in exclusive Excess Talks interviews. They discuss the process of developing and launching a new range of exciting catamarans now available with Denison Yachting.
