Top 6 Florida Destinations Only Accessible By Yacht

Andrzej Bus | May 18, 2021

Best places only a boat can take you to in the Sunshine State.

At Denison, we don’t just sell yachts; we live on them, and finding great getaways and hideouts is part of our team’s mission.  Fort Lauderdale isn’t just home to great food and culture, it’s a gateway to everything the ocean has to offer.

Explore our selection of the top 6 destinations that are only accessible with a yacht in Florida:

1. Key West’s Sprawling Snorkeling Trail

Key West is home to some of the most famous writers and artists of our time and a true gem when visiting by boat. The Everglades National Park snorkeling trail is one of the most beautiful and sprawling locations for seeing all the wildlife and ocean life Florida offers. The snorkeling trail also provides you with a perfect boat ride to nightlife, great food, and breweries located throughout the keys.

2. Boca Chita

If you haven’t spent time on Florida’s waterways, then Boca Chita is a hidden spot that can only be experienced up close and by boat only.

Home to some of the oldest campgrounds in the country, Boca Chita is one of the most sought-after locations for spending New Year’s or any holiday at sea with family and friends. Just make sure to bring plenty of food and beer because once you are at Boca Chita, you won’t want to leave or take a trip elsewhere.

3. Stiltsville

Stiltsville is a photogenic landscape of what once was and a great in-between boating stop on your next sea adventure.

Built between the 1920s and 1930s, Stiltsville is home to wooden stilt clubs and restaurants, one mile south of Cape Florida, built on sandbanks on the edges of Biscayne Bay in Miami, Florida. Home to famous clubs and restaurants over the decades, Stiltsville now is a renowned docking and snorkeling spot for visitors everywhere to enjoy.

4. The Eye of Miami Lighthouse

The Eye of Miami Lighthouse is a historical landmark certainly worth visiting during your next Florida trip.

Constructed in 1878 to aid ships crossing the ocean, The Fowey Rocks Lighthouse, also called the eye of Miami, is one of three lighthouses found in the Biscayne National Park. The lure of great movies holds the history of this infamous Lighthouse, as there have been many shipwrecks over the century due to the water’s shallow reefs.

When you visit this landmark, you won’t find any lighthouse attendants, and still, in function, this Lighthouse guards the sea on a fully automated process.

Now the eye of Miami is home to a one-of-a-kind snorkeling excursion that can only be experienced in person and by boat.

5. Peanut Island

For those seeking an escape from everyday life, you do not have to head far from South Florida to find one of the most beautiful hidden spots you can travel to by boat. Tucked away from the bustle of the city, Denison Yachts recommends checking out the hiking trails, paddle boarding, and snorkeling along the shore.

The historical Kennedy bunker and coast guard station are located right on the island for history lovers.

6. Fort Jefferson

Are you looking for some real-life adventure? Look no further than Fort Jefferson. Florida has its own Alcatraz, and is now a national park. Some even say that Dr. Samuel A. Mudd, the doctor that patched-up John Wilks Booth was kept here… but we’ll leave the treasure hunting to you.
