Good morning. My name’s David Johnson, currently standing here at Safe Harbor LMC Marina in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. I’ve got to show you PICCOLO. She’s built by one of the top custom shipyards in the world. Everyone is unique for each, each client whether it’s the interior, the exterior design, but one thing that is really important to Alpha is the quality. They focus on the acoustics and the vibrations. A lot of the things that the other shipyards might look at and take into consideration, but Alpha would focus on the little details. This one is 125 feet long. It’s called the al Fresco. And the name comes from the exterior dining that you’ll see once we get up onto the upper deck.

Quick cliff notes before we get going. Super wide beam, massive sun deck. It’s actually got a thousand square foot sun deck, five state room layout, one state room on the main deck. And this boat has really nice crew accommodations.

125 Alpha 2020 Piccolo Sun Deck Flybridge

So this is the Alfresco model, so it only makes sense that we would start up here. The path to get here is quite a simple one from the F deck. We’re walking up the starboard side deck. You’re going to find a really wide handrail there. Wide deck makes it very easy. You make a quick turn, find ourselves up in this massive, massive sun deck. This sun deck offers the same volume as basically 180-foot super yacht. It’s a thousand square feet. It’s dissected into many areas. You’ve got a Jacuzzi forward. You’ve got a bar here, dining area here, another dining table under that cushion right there. That’s a high low table so you can easily fit about 15, 20 people up here for a nice event.

Working aft, we find ourselves in the last zone.Which is a really nice, comfortable seating area. High end furniture. All the furniture on the boat. It’s all entimenotti. The names that you expect to find on a high end boat, this one’s got a nice shade structure, wide beam. You feel the beam up here as you do throughout the rest of the boat. And beautiful teak decks. I mean, the comfort up here is unparalleled. Really impressed with what you find on board this PICCOLO.

125 Alpha 2020 Piccolo Foredeck Bow

We’re in Fort Lauderdale. I can’t tell if it’s going to rain or shine. Which makes you want to point out this hard top here. This hard top is bigger than many yachts and entire sun decks. You’ve got a huge area that’s all covered here. All of your dining is covered, your bar area is covered, your two TVs are covered, so you could literally sit up here even in a torrential downpour and still be protected.

Some people may find the, the backside of the sundeck to be a little bit more formal. As we work our way up here, it gets a little bit more fun starting off with a. And then you’ve got your barbecue and a lot of storage under here for all of your cocktails, your drinks, your mixers. You’ve got a couple refrigerators, an ice bucket, and of course your helm, you can easily look down the side of the boat.

125 Alpha 2020 Piccolo Aft Deck

So when the captain’s maneuvering, this is where he is going to be driving from. This is more of the, the station that he’s going to be hanging out when you’re cruising through the shallow waters in The Bahamas. So he can keep a good eye on everything that’s ahead of us. But it’s usually just more for maneuvering.

Forward to this, we’re going to find a plunge pool. It’s actually huge. You can you know, easily get eight people in there comfortably. A lot of times you’ll find out a yacht that the Jacuzzis are a little bit too small. There’s no lack of space on this one. Some really nice design work has gone into this with this staircase, leading up with the stainless steel frame. I also want to point out, on the starboard sided of this punch pool is a very large freezer and that will be used, whenever you’re going off the beaten path in The Bahamas Caribbean.

125 Alpha 2020 Piccolo Swim Platform

We’ll usually find that the Fly Bridge Helm Station is all the way forward center line, which makes it a little bit harder to maneuver the boat if you don’t have wings stations. Alpha did a great job by placing this helm station right here. You got good visibility up forward as well Up here. Up here you don’t have the same amount of screens as you do down in the lower helm, but you have a nice comply. The Bruno screens are up here. Your autopilot, your bath thrust, your main engine controls, everything you’re going to need to maneuver the boat is going to be right here.

Earlier up on the sun deck, I pointed out the quality of the stainless steel work. You’re going to find that everywhere we go on the boat. Next, I’d like to point out all the teak and the use of the teak throughout the boat. It’s not common to find tea up on a sundeck like that. That’s something that special that, that the alpha offers. Seeing it here on the brow of the. That’s an extra special feature that they do. A little touch makes the alpha stand out and this is something they do for all the Al Frescos. We’re going to find the on the overhead, on the aft deck also.

125 Alpha 2020 Piccolo Crew Quarters

A few other things that we’ll find up here. Beautiful settee. Great place to watch a sunrise sunset. If you’re sitting in the marina, sometimes the crew will hang out up here and take a break here. Otherwise, of course, as the owners, you can too. Great use of ground tackle, high end equipment, port and starboard. Nice, nice big stainless steel cleats. Your lines will be tightly wrapped and looking good even when they’re not being used.

Working our way aft we find ourselves here on the aft deck. Some areas of this boat are shaded, some are not. We find ourselves in a little bit of a hybrid area here. Nice shade. A little bit of sun back here, but this feels huge. I’m standing in the what feels kind of like an outdoor living area. It’s got the nice sun shade here but it’s also like an outdoor living room. Couple of features we’re going to find back here. Nice cleats for all the off deck lines. You’ve got your winches, stairs going down to the swim platform. Over on the starboard side, you’re going to have your gate that’s going to lead down to the pasarelle, if you’re Med Moored, or Stern to, and of course forward of us you’re going to have the Al Fresco area that we’ll look at in just a couple minutes.

Perhaps the most impressive feature of this boat is this swim platform. This swim platform has a capacity of 1.75 tons, 17 or 18 foot, you know, Novurania or Zodiac on here or, or even two jet skis. This is hydraulic obviously, so this whole platform’s going to go lower down below the water line. Couple of things to point out here. Obviously I’m being shaded right now by two beautiful umbrellas. These have a built in lights, so you get some nice light feature right here at nighttime. We’ve got the pasarelle that’s going to come out of that hash, right. Access into a huge storage area.

Another great feature to point out is the access into the crew accommodations, which we’re going to check out now, stepping in from the swim platform here on the landing, the first thing we come across is a really nice storage area. This is called the Lazarette on most yachts. And this is a particularly large lazarette for a 125-foot yacht. Something super important on every yacht ice. And this, this boat’s got the commercial grade Hoshizake machine. Always full of ice, which is always good.

125 Alpha 2020 Piccolo Engine Room

This is the access to the swim platform. You’ve got a hydraulic door here that works out really nice for getting anything that’s in here out there. You could put toys in here, you could have your slides, your sea, bobs, wakeboards, anything you want to be carrying for toys.

Moving forward from the Lazarette area. We come across the crew dinette. This is nicely laid out. The crew have a TV to watch. They’ve got the repeater from the wheelhouse. It’s showing all the alarms, the tank systems, anything that might come up on the bridge. It’s also going to show down here. You’ve got your wind speed indicator depth, everything else on another repeater, nice size dinette. You got your storage underneath all the set tees. Good storage up above as well. And working forward, we come across a little galley area. It’s got the another refrigerator down here where it works out nice. That one’s actually currently set up as a freezer, storage under the, Microwave up above and a lot of storage. You’ve got a huge storage down in the bill area down here.

Forward to this area. You’re going to find one more crew cabin over here. This also has an en suite shower and head nicely pointed. Lots of storage in all of the crew cabins down here. Laundry area over here. One stack commercial grade set here, and then another Miele combo unit that more for the towels and things like.

125 Alpha 2020 Piccolo Enclosed Dinette Salon Aft deck

Now I’m going to work my way into what’s kind of a convertible crew cabin because it’s got a Pullman bunk. So with this down, you can actually easily accommodate seven Crew. Seven Crew is a really good number for 125-foot yacht. Another thing that Alpha’s done in here, which is really nice, they’ve actually put a lot of storage in here. Crew accommodations are usually lacking storage here. They’ve made up for it. With this. You’ve got more storage over here, and then a full en suite shower is and head.

Now we find ourselves in the engine room. This is probably one of the biggest engine rooms that you’re going to find on more a 125-foot yacht. PICCOLO operates with two Caterpillars, C 18 1000 horsepower engines that gives her a cruising speed of around 12 knots and, and a max speed of 15 knots. And she’s got a cruising range of 2300 miles. The electrical system on board, the PICCOLO is powered by two Caterpillar 65 KW generators. Both generators are enclosed in their own sound shields. The boat’s got a Tecnicomar waste treatment plant, and they’ve also done something kind of cool, is that they’ve taken each individual air conditioning compressor and put it in its own sound shield. Wrapping things up here in the engine room, we’re going to work our way up to the main salon next.

Before we look inside I want to point out the forward portion of the aft deck. We’ve talked about a variety of flexible spaces throughout the boat. Shaded, not shaded. This is another one of those flexible areas. This can be enclosed or open as you see it right now. See these slats up here. So some of these slats are speakers, and this one right here happens to be air conditioning.

125 Alpha 2020 Piccolo salon

It’s blowing some nice cool air down on me right now. So you can imagine if you’re sitting out here enjoying lunch and it’s a really hot day that that chilled breeze blowing down, it knocks it back a couple. Whether or not you have the doors open or closed. The coolest thing about this area is how quickly it transforms from an alfresco dining. With the doors wide open to a more formal dining area is these accordion doors. It only takes a crew about two minutes to close these doors instantly transforming it from an informal to a formal dining area.

So then we find ourselves in the main salon. One of the first things you’re going to notice in this main salon, the floor ceiling windows pretty amazing.Something that isn’t noticed right away is that these upper windows are actually angled, so when you’re sitting down, you can look up into the sky. Really nice feature. Another thing, ceiling height. You don’t get this ceiling height on any other yacht in this class. It’s reserved more for yachts over 150 feet. This is a great feature. Makes you feel like you’re on a huge yacht.

The floating floors, floating ceilings that are found throughout the boat. What that means is that the ceiling of the engine room that’s below us is not actually touching this floor. You’ve got everything suspended so you don’t have any of the vibrations coming from the lower deck to the upper deck or vice versa. It also means that when you’re walking on this deck through, up forward to the galley, the cabins below are not feeling any of that vibration or noise.

125 Alpha 2020 Piccolo Galley

Other things to point out. It’s just really natural. By all natural, I mean that all of the walls are, are just natural tones. You don’t see a lot of glossy wood anywhere on the boat. A lot of nice natural colors. Also, the flooring in here, this is from a company called the Amtico. It’s got these like little divots in it. So it’s, it’s beautiful, it’s got nice texture to it. It’s really friendly, non-skid, so if you got the kids running through, you don’t have to worry about them. It’s also eco-friendly. It’s an engineered. It has a very, very nice feel to it on the feet.

A lot of this amazing design is a combination of H2 naval architects who are famous for many Larsen’s and fed ships and many other pedigree yachts. One of the very cool features they’ve incorporated into this design is this amazing corridor, floor to ceiling, windows halfway down, lots of natural light, extremely high overhead, and something cool they’ve done in this boat you don’t typically find is that you’ve got a cabin right here.

This is a twin cabin with a Pullman birth. This allows you to get up to your 12th guest. So two perfect situations for this cabin right here is if you have any elderly guests coming on board, maybe a nanny, security guard, pilot, something like that. This is a great spot for those guests. Working forward, we find ourselves to the day head Again, nice thick door, closing, soft closed hinges, nice Turkish marble. Everything just lays out really nicely. In there.

Now we come to the area where all the wonderful food is prepared. Huge galley. Now this has got some of the biggest FRI refrigerators and freezers that I’ve ever seen on a yacht this size or almost any yacht. So freezer here, refrigerator over there. Another nice feature, this huge volume, nice island. The chef’s got a lot of room to prepare here. The stewards are able to, you know, take care of any drinks, cocktails, washing glasses, anything over on that side. Nice commercial induction, stove, oven. Everything you need is going to be right here, microwave.

125 Alpha 2020 Piccolo Wheelhouse

Working our way forward from the galley, we come to the wheelhouse. This is a really spacious wheelhouse office. Done a great job of giving the captain plenty of space for storage, something that’s not usually found on a yacht. It’s got a great place for all of your paper charts. You can fit enough to go around the world in here. More storage in here for all of the radios. Anything else that you need. You got your two main screens, your Caterpillar main engine controls, and of course your steering wheel.

Facing this direction. I’d be remiss to not talk about the windshield. These are really nice. They’re vertical windows. They actually have a, they’re raked back just a little bit, a couple degrees. But excellent visibility. You can see beyond 180 degrees. And again, you don’t, you never have the sun shining in your eyes because the windows have got a slight rake to them.

Now, facing aft you just need to point out the fact that you’ve got breaker panel, four breaker panels up here. These are the same breakers that you’re going to find down in the engine room and Alpha out of common sense decided, Hey, let’s put those same breakers up here. So if it’s two o’clock in the morning and you’re on watch, and you get an alarm going off on the, on the vessel monitoring system, you can turn a breaker off and then take some time and then go back aft and look at it. It’s really just an added measure of safety. And I think Alpha did a really good job of adding that to the wheelhouse here.

Now, I’ve shown you every square inch of the main deck. What’s left to show you is at the foot of these stairs down here. So let me tell you a little bit about the state rooms on board, the PICCOLO, our friend Nick Burnham from alcoholic the YouTube. He did a walkthrough video on this boat at the Monaco Yacht Show in September, and he got a ton of views. I know, I’m pretty sure it’s because of the state room layout on board this boat. It’s, it’s so well laid out.

125 Alpha 2020 Piccolo Guest Stateroom

I’m currently standing in the forward VIP. It is the forward most cabin. It stands alone as you see when we work our way after. You will find that there is another cabin that could also be referred to as the VIP because it’s got a larger bed. You’ve got blackout blinds on every cabin throughout the boat. Great use of storage on this boat. Let’s work our way into the en suite. All Turkish marble, nice walk-in shower, nice vanity. And I don’t know why you’d ever want to stay at a hotel with accommodations like this.

Walking aft from the forward guest cabin, we find ourselves in this cabin, which if I was a guest on board the PICCOLO, I would want to stay in this cabin. This one has got a true king size bed, not like a lot of yachts where they cut the corners. This actually is a full true size king bed. And it doesn’t feel overwhelming in here because this is a really large state room that we’re standing in right now.

Other things I want to point out in here, just like all the other Alphas, storage is really important. Even little areas like nook, storage, you know, where you want to hide the sheets and stuff like that in the cabins. So the bulk of your storage is going to be over on this side of the. Here, this is where the suits are going to go. This is more like his side. All the drawers are all glass fronted, so you don’t have to pull the drawer out to actually see what’s inside. You can just look really quick. Over here we’ve got the deeper closet, obviously more room so you can hang a proper dress. Anything else that you would want to hang in there and not to be overlooked? Here we’ve got an another spacious en suite, beautiful marble shower. Everything’s bookmarked on the boat. All the marble, everything matches up. Perfect. Nice vanity. Very spacious in. Again just really nice layout, lots of volume in all of these state rooms.

Leaving this state room heading across the hall, we’re going to find the twin cabin walking into this room right away. You see all this natural light coming through the windows are huge and, you can see the reflection up above me on the wall next to me. The natural light is flowing through. Imagine waking up at. The suns on the port side of the boat and you just, you open your eyes and you see all of this natural light flowing through. That’s what Alpha gets. They take advantage of all this natural light and they incorporate these massive windows throughout all of their yachts especially this 125, and we see it here, and we’re going to see even more of these huge windows when we get back to the master cabin.

125 Alpha 2020 Piccolo VIP Stateroom

If you’re anything like me, you don’t want to waste one hour of daylight. The alpha 125 lets you just make full use of the entire day. If you have kids like mine, you want to get up, you want to start the day, you want to be fresh, you wake up in a state room like this, you’ve got a lot of natural life.

You’ve got a beam of 27 feet, six inches. The average yacht in this size range is going to be about 25 feet. So you’ve got additional two and a half feet, and you really feel that. Master cabin right here. This is extremely wide space that we’re in. You’ve got room for a full sofa, king size bed storage and style galore.

One of the special creative touches that Alpha incorporates into all of their designs and builds is the lighting. And you’ll notice in this boat that there’s an abundance of lighting and it’s all very subtle. All the alpha doors throughout all of their range, they’re all incredibly thick. Something that’s really nice on a yacht because noise travels, and something that Alpha really focuses on are the acoustics onboard. The yachts. These doors are a big part of that. You’ll see they’re about triple the thickness of the average yacht door. They all have these nice hinges that let the door stay open. You couldn’t say them one of these doors even if you wanted to.

125 Alpha 2020 Piccolo Master Stateroom

Finishing off the master, we have to talk about this beautiful en suite. Again, you’re looking at all Turkish marble. It’s all book matched, everything lines up perfectly, and there’s also a lot of space in here. Honestly, you’ve got a beautiful full size shower right here.

You got a, you’ve got a rainfall shower, a separate wand head as well. Nice bench to sit down if you prefer to sit down and take a shower. And then opposite, you have the stall with the head. To me, the Al Fresco series boils down to three things. You’ve got quality, versatility, and comfort with those three things, you’ve got a boat that can go anywhere. You’ve got a 2300-mile range. You’ve got a six-foot two-inch draft for cruising in The Bahamas or any other location that’s going to have shallow waters, and you’ve got a beam of 27 feet, six inches.

There’s a lot more that I can say about the PICCOLO and alphas in general, but you’re going to have to call me for that. If you want to have a look at the boat, give me a call. We can do a video walkthrough. There’s a couple boat shows coming up. I’d love to take some time and show you’re on the boat personally.
