Australian yacht builder Riviera unveiled its new 5600 Sport Yacht Platinum Edition on December 13th during a private launch event at their Gold Coast facility. The debut drew an international crowd from North America, New Zealand, and Australia to witness the first hull hit the water.
Company owner Rodney Longhurst said the 5600 raises the bar for a luxury motor yacht under 60 feet, particularly in space, comfort, livability, engineering, blue-water ability and fuel efficiency. The new model is powered by twin Volvo Penta D11 IPS 950s delivering 725hp each, providing class-leading power-to-weight ratio with enhanced torque, impressive fuel efficiency and performance from individually steerable drives with forward-facing, twin counter-rotating propellers.
The accommodation layout centers around three staterooms and two bathrooms on the lower deck, featuring handcrafted timber and detailed finishing. The master suite spans the full beam with a queen island bed, cedar-lined storage, Smart TV, air conditioning, and private head with teak shower. The forward VIP cabin has its own head access, while the port guest cabin converts from twin beds to a double with the push of a button. Practical touches include a dedicated laundry with separate washer and dryer, bench space and natural ventilation through a hull window.
The yacht’s design emphasizes both entertaining and safety features. Large aft deck space accommodates outdoor dining, while the spacious salon offers two seating areas and the forward deck features a U-shaped conversation area that converts to sun lounges. Wide side decks with non-skid surfaces, LED courtesy lighting and stainless steel handrails provide safe movement around the yacht, and a tender garage offers storage for water sports equipment.
Technology integration includes Volvo Penta joystick control for simplified docking and maneuvering, integrated Garmin Glass Cockpit navigation system, and CZone digital switching with touchscreen and iPad control. The Sentinel Marine App enables remote monitoring and control of onboard systems, while a lithium-ion battery system covers house, auxiliary, and starting power needs.
Built at Riviera’s 41-acre facility in Australia using digital-cut fiberglass and structural foams, the yacht is covered by a 2-year express warranty on non-structural components, 5-year Volvo Penta warranty on propulsion systems, and 7-year structural warranty on hull, deck, and hardtops. The 5600 Sport Yacht Platinum Edition will make its U.S. debut at the Miami International Boat Show in February 2026, with Denison Yachting representing Riviera on the East Coast, covering South Florida, the Carolinas, and New England markets.
