Sample Yacht Charter Itinerary: The Exuma Islands

Day 1: Embark from Nassau, Paradise Island for the Exumas. These islands span over a hundred miles of clear blue water and form a string of pearls including an assortment of natural harbors and secluded beaches.   Anchor for Lunch in the quiet Allan’s Cay Group.  Go ashore and feed the iguanas.   Spend the evening anchored off the western shore of Highborne Cay and enjoy an evening swim in the warm waters.

Day 2: Set sail this morning for Fowl Cay.  During the afternoon visit the Caves at Rocky Dondas, which provide a great location for snorkeling. There is a good chance the beaches of Bell Island will be empty and perfect for relaxing.

Day 3: Staniel Cay is the cruising headquarters for the Exuma Cays and well known for the friendliness of its people, beautiful clear waters and its secluded beaches. Staniel Cay offers great bone, reef and deep-sea fishing.  She perhaps is most known for being the location for the James Bond movies Thunderball and Never Say Never Again. The ‘Thunderball Grotto’ is one of the most fantastic snorkeling locations and not to be missed!

Day 4: The next morning cruise to Great Guana Cay. This 9 mile long island has a five and a half mile long beach, the longest in the Bahamas. In the afternoon, stop by Farmer’s Cay Yacht Club and Marina and soak up the intimate atmosphere and beautiful surroundings.

Day 5: Today might be the most memorable. Wardrick Wells was established as a Land and Sea Park in the mid 1980’s and is a paradise to behold. It offers miles of hiking trails crystal clear waters offer and even swimming pigs!

Day 6: Shroud Cay is an island comprised of an archipelago of small cays and rocks surrounding a shallow mangrove salina.  Shroud Cay provides a unique nursery for a vast variety of wildlife, such as sea turtles, conch and crawfish. Most of the waterways and creeks at Shroud Cay are only accessible by dinghy or waverunner.

Day 7: Head back to Paradise Island and explore the Atlantis Resort. Test the stakes in the Casino, enjoy fantastic restaurants and clubs, explore the amazing aquariums and have fun on the thrilling waterslides.

Day 8: Depart after brunch knowing a return trip is in the cards.
