In February 2015 my wife and I decided we wanted to get back into boating and began our search for the perfect vessel. We had no idea what we were looking for beyond at least a decent weekender or maybe larger. Our search began at the Halifax Harbor Marina in Daytona Beach, FL and while looking at pictures in a window we were greeted by Mike Mahoney.
From the very beginning, Mike was pleasant, helpful, and knowledgeable. I have a fairly broad knowledge of commercial and pleasure boating but found Mike’s insight very beneficial to our search process.
Between Mike and I perusing the various resources for boats, we viewed several which helped Tami and I narrow down our search. Mike remained positive and energetic, standing ready to help and answer emails and calls. We traveled as needed to explore the possibilities and weeded out some real dogs.
Finally, we discovered our diamond and when it came time for the survey, Mike’s broad circle of friends and resources made the process not only easier but also allowed us to be confident in our final decision.
Mike took us step by step through the purchase process making it painless. He went as far as recommendations for dockage, preparation of our new Silverton 392 for the journey to Daytona Beach, and keeping in touch with us along the way. As we didn’t know anyone for maintenance, service, and other boating needs Mike has been helpful even now with contacts and advice. Tami and I highly recommend Mike Mahoney as a Yacht Broker and if we ever decide to sell or buy again, Mike will be our guy.
We recently purchased a 50' sailboat from Carlos Dominguez at Denison Yacht Sales. Carlos is the best salesman possible, even though we are inexperienced boat purchasers from Aspen Colorado he patiently held our hands and walked through the process and continues to assist us after the deal closed. On a scale of one to ten, Carlos deserves a twelve!
It's in your best interest to keep him on your staff as long as you can. Thank you for making our dreams come true...
Ken Denison has been my broker of record for over 28 years. He has participated in the purchase and sale of every boat I have owned during that time. Even when no brokerage fee was involved for the purchase of smaller vessels for use at home or as tow tenders, Ken would make sure we were getting the right deal and the correct boat for the usage intended.
During construction or reconstruction of major yachts (5 in total) Ken was always on top of the deal before and after the sale or purchase. He made repeated trips at his own expense to be sure that our Dutch builds were as perfect as possible and assisted us in all ongoing negotiations as if it were his own boat. After each launch, Ken would often sail with us to get the feel of the boat and to make any suggestions during the warranty period.
Having been a major factor in the boat building business as part of Broward yachts, he has the knowledge and experience that is a rare find among brokers. I can also say in all that time we never found ourselves in a dispute that couldn’t be resolved with his expertise and knowledge of yacht design and construction. On top of all that he has been an honest and sincere friend. Who could ask for more?"
Ken has been my broker of record for over twenty-eight years in the purchase and sale, during that time, of probably six or seven major yachts. I have never bought or sold a boat without him as my broker, let alone all the minor issues involved with ownership where he has been a great deal of assistance.
Even during the construction or reconstruction of my six major yachts, he was always on top of the construction in offering advice and support for whatever I was doing, even to the point of making trips to Europe at his own expense to be of all the assistance he could possibly be. It would not be possible to have a better and more loyal broker than him and I thank him for all his continued service.
