Established: 1971

Located: Cape Coral, Florida

Construction: Fiberglass

Category: Sport Fishing Boats

Worth Noting: Palmer Marine currently owns Shamrock Boats.

Shamrock Boats was founded in 1971 in Cape Coral, Florida. With a reputation for building no-nonsense quality fishing boats, Shamrock became one of the largest manufacturers of midsize inboard sport fishing boats.

An industry leader with innovations such the Keel Drive system for midsize fishing boats and Diesel Power available for all models, Shamrock’s signature feature is that they are powered by direct-drive inboard engines instead of outboard and inboard/outdrive power options.

In 1980, the Shamrock 260 was launched. The design was a modified “V” hull shape with a deep-V shape forward that gradually flattened towards the transom, and the hulls decks and component parts were hand-laid using rolled fiberglass materials and resin. The Shamrock 260 was in production until 1999 when a new 260 Express model was introduced.

In 2003, Shamrock’s parents company, KCS International, relocated the company to a larger manufacturing plant in Navassa, North Carolina. When Palmer Marine purchased Shamrock in 2005, they moved the company back to its original facility in Cape Coral, Florida.
