In 1966, Pekka Koskenkyla founded Nautor’s Swan with the shipyard OY Nautor AB in Pietsaari, Finland. Nautor’s Swan builds sailing yachts and superyachts ranging from 16.48 to 35.20 meters. Koskenkyla’s goal was to launch a line of high-performance sailing yachts by drawing on the centuries old Finnish boat building industry. In an effort to do this, Koskenkyla consulted and engaged Sparkman & Stephens, a noted U.S. naval architecture firm, to design the Swan 36.

As time went on, Nautor’s Swan developed larger and larger sailing yachts. Their partnership with Sparkman & Stephens ended and a new partnership, with Ron Holland and German Frers, began. In 1988, Frers helped the shipyard design the Swan 86, their first superyacht. Nautor’s Swan specializes in swift, high-tech FPR sailing yachts and superyachts with ultra-sleek lines. Nautor’s Swan also maintains close contact with owners with its ClubSwan program, which organizes annual rendezvous and regattas around the world.
