Innovative interior design solutions with a fuel-efficient, outboard-powered cruiser.
This Jeanneau Merry Fisher 855 / NC 895 Offshore is a great pocket cruiser. With two separate cabins, this boat ranks in the category of being a true cruiser opening up many possibilities for couples. The cockpit is great for entertaining or fishing and the twin 200HP Yamaha F200s make getting home a breeze. It is a great boat for a young family, with easy access to the bow and sunpad via a wider sidedeck to starboard. There is an opening side door next to the helm, to make docking very easy for a single person.
Inside, there is a true twin cabin layout; the island master bed is easy to make and a bathroom with shower, and toilet. In the salon, there is a mini galley to port, and to starboard, a booth-style seating that can convert into two forward-facing benches. There are two overhead opening hatches that let in plenty of air, as well as air conditioning (which can do heating) throughout.

Asymmetrical Deck Layout:
Jeanneau went with an offset wheelhouse for the Merry Fisher 855 and as such the starboard side deck is wider than the portside. This again plays into the sliding side door next to the starboard side helm. However, the port side deck is still easy to negotiate thanks to the abundance of handrails and the side rail that extends well back to the cockpit.
Cockpit:
The cockpit is down two steps from the side decks and presents a wide open space. An opening gate to the starboard side leads to the swim platform.
Bow:
The bow is accessed by either of the side decks, with the starboard of course being easier to negotiate as it is wider than the portside deck. The bow features a split rail forward easing the chore of working the ground tackle as well as facilitating bow-in mooring. A large anchor locker makes managing any tangles easy whether the optional windlass is chosen or not. Just behind is an open deck that will accommodate a sun pad and also has a hatch leading to the forward cabin.
Dual Opening Skylights:
While the benefits of the hardtop are obvious, this design also incorporates two opening smoked skylights. They let daylight in while still providing protection, and when desired allow sunlight and fresh air in. This design also aids in visibility from the helm when making turns to port. The skylight drops down into view of the turn adding to the safety factor.
Sliding Side Door:
A door just to starboard of the helm allows quick access to the side decks making single-handed operations a simple affair. A large cleat is just forward of this door, and if it were relocated to a position adjacent to the door it would make single-handed tie-ups even easier.
Interior Overview:
There is a pocket door that leads into the forward berth as well as a hinging door that opens into the aft cabin. With two opening side windows and two opening sunroof hatches, ventilation will be the least of the concerns. Natural light is also a non-issue with nearly 360-degrees of visibility. For that reason, should any guest be sleeping on the main deck, optional wraparound canvas closes off all of the glass for privacy.
Salon/Dining Area:
To the port side is booth seating that offers a surprising amount of flexibility and really adds to the cruise-ability of the Merry Fisher 855. In the dining configuration two couples will be sitting across from each other with the table in the middle. In cruise configuration, the front seat reverses and becomes forward facing seating.
Galley:
The galley is over to the starboard side just behind the helm. When not in use, there is a flip down wood lid covering the stove and sink.
Helm:
Jeanneau accommodates sitting at the helm with the comfortable bucket seat and a flip-down foot rest. Flip up the foot rest and standing at the helm becomes equally comfortable. It is also equally comfortable to be sitting with one foot resting on the sill of the open side door and enjoying the unobstructed view of the water passing by.
