Located on the East Coast of the Florida/Georgia line along the IC. This is a US Coast Guard Documented vessel. The rig and deck of the Hunter 46 are designed for speed and simple handling, with an abundance of living space and creature comforts. The relatively wide 14 foot beam amidships carries well aft, not tapering back sharply to a narrow stern. Under the waterline, the Hunter’s bottom is flatter than many fast sailing hulls, and this helps keep you on “an even keel”, Another trait that power boaters appreciate.
The standard rigging has no awkward backstay, and gives you a larger, more powerful mainsail and a smaller jib. The 46’s large rudder and bulb-wing keel gave it quick maneuverability in tight docking situations. It carries more than 1,000 square feet of sail.
The UPGRADED optional unbattened mainsail reefs and furls away completely into the hollow mast. These mainsails have a curvaceous roach and offer a large amount of sail area. The standard jib sails are relatively small. The rig allows for all points of sail except dead downwind. At that angle the main sail will lay against swept back spreaders.

Versatility best describes the Hunter 46. Whether you want to cross oceans or bays, bang around the buoys or just live-aboard, this boat has the capacity to do it all. The dinette area is large enough to handle the crew, but intimate enough for just two. Storage is plentiful as is the natural light and ventilation.
Hand-rubbed teak and exquisite fabrics are in evidence throughout the grand interior. An innovative forward head arrangement splits the shower and head so both can be used at once. An enormous dual-opening refrigerator and freezer are central to the U-shaped galley. Force 10 stove and oven plus a microwave will make dinners a joy to make while the island sink will have cleanup covered. Storage for everything is at hand including the recessed trash receptacle.
The forward master stateroom rivals most yachts twice her size. Twin hanging lockers and lots of drawers make staying aboard easy and a great night's sleep is guaranteed by the inner-spring mattresses.
Entertaining is gracious with the open salon which incorporates a TV and CD stereo. Twin comfortable seats and a convertible cocktail table are located just forward of the extensive nav station with plenty of space for electronics and gear. Aft you have a choice of two layouts; dual staterooms or trade one in for an office/work area. Both are large, airy and comfortable.
There are numerous practical features included with the Hunter 46. The tri-cabin layout is ideal for cruising couples or families, with the master suite forward, coupled with adjacent separate head and shower. Two double staterooms port and starboard aft with an adjacent head/shower on the starboard side.
A main saloon, boasts six and a half feet of headroom, is bright and airy with numerous skylights, deck hatches and opening ports at eye level. It has ample seating around the U-shaped main dining table which also includes a sofa. The main salon is open to the galley allowing for easy conversation and functional entertaining.
The galley features a three burner gimbaled propane stove with oven. A separate refrigerator/freezer with convenient front loading access, large covered trash container, double stainless-steel sink and a microwave oven.
A sit-down chart table and navigation station is to starboard. It centers all the electrical panels, battery switches and systems monitors in one convenient location. Cabinet latches are flush-mounted push buttons and all the bilges and hidden spaces are accessible for deep storage.
The attractive teak and holly cabin sole runs the length of the interior with sculpted wooden treads and chrome rails. The companionway access between the decks is gently sloped so that it doesn’t demand ducking or special agility.
The stern is recessed into a swim platform with easy boarding steps and features a hot/cold shower and stowage for the propane and water toys. With four feet, ten inches of freeboard, the large cockpit is quite high off the water, providing safety and good visibility on all sides.
A central binnacle houses a standard instrument panel, drink holders and a large stand-up steering wheel. A slightly arched helm seat swings into place to blend with the molded cockpit seating, but has a raised pedestal Captain's helm seat.
There is a well-enclosed cockpit with coamings, stainless-steel rails and two-level lifelines. Attractive custom cushions provide comfortable seating. Sailing Hunter’s distinctive stainless-steel arch (something like a sport fisher) carries the aft end of the mainsail’s boom well above head level.
The boom’s dual action traveler is mounted across the top of the arch, making its control lines easy to reach. All other control lines are led very neatly from the foot of the mast or side decks through fairleads to cam cleats and winches lining the forward half of the cockpit. This leaves virtually nothing to do outside the cockpit under way; another measure of safety in all weather.
Two sets of spreaders on the 46’s mast are swept aft, and the mast is stiffened by a series of three diamond stays, without a backstay. The wire rigging is well secured through the decks to aluminum plates and rails. Hunter has also included a twin bow anchor set up.
