Now 750.000 € - Discover the future of sailing with this hybrid-electric bluewater catamaran.
Enjoy the freedom and safety of knowing you can sail anywhere in the world and be energy self-sufficient.
The electrification of sailing yachts is finally gaining speed. Fountaine Pajot is set to electrify its entire fleet by 2030.
By circumnavigating the globe, boats like this have long proven the concept. The independence, ease of maintenance and reduced operating costs are convincing not just seasoned cruisers, but also charter companies to make the transition to hybrid-electric propulsion.
This Fountaine Pajot Saba 50 has been meticulously maintained and continuously optimized. The vessel features high-quality custom fittings and presents in very good condition, with a full maintenance history, many upgrades and renewals. Detailed dokumentation available.
UNIQUE FEATURES
What sets ths Fountaine Pajot Saba 50 apart from other sailing catamarans on the market, is its electric propulsion system and energy self-sufficiency.
Electric Motors
• Equipped from the shipyard with two Oceanvolt SD-15 electric motors.
• Powered by a 3000-watt solar system (true peak output) and hydro-regeneration functionality.
• Backup power by Fischer Panda 21 kW diesel generator in case of extended cloud cover.
• Central energy storage: A 48-volt DC battery bank with a capacity of 25 kWh consisting of
(12 x LiFePO4 Super B batteries, ca 850 charge cycles, 100% capacity, Lifespan 8,000–10,000 cycles).
ENERGY AUTONOMY
The batteries are charged by two Victron MPPT solar chargers, hydrogeneration from Oceanvolt motors while sailing, a generator, or shore power via an 8 kW Victron Quattro charger/inverter. The solar system generates 8 to 12 kWh per day on average, fully meeting energy needs. The electric motors propel the catamaran to a maximum speed of 7.3 knots and a cruising speed of 5 knots. Compared to diesel engines, the electric motors are low-maintenance, whisper-quiet, and allow precise maneuvering at low speeds. With sufficient sunlight, they provide unlimited range.
HOME COMFORTS
The large energy storage and solar system offer the same level of comfort on water as at home, without having to make compromises or worry about energy consumption. Food is prepared either on a three-burner Siemens induction stove, a full-size AEG electric oven, or the gas grill at the stern.
In the cockpit, a full fairing offers all-round protection from wind, weather and sun. Even when the outside temperature is lower, the cockpit remains pleasantly warm.
Household appliances include:
• Moulinex bread maker
• Miele washer-dryer (8 kg capacity)
• Bosch dishwasher
• Microwave with grill
• Ice maker and Moulinex juicer
•. Large fridge and freezer 12V DC.
WATER SYSTEM
Freshwater is provided by an Aquabase SLCE desalination unit with a capacity of 180 liters per hour. It can be powered directly from the battery bank via inverters, and solar energy is sufficient to meet its 2 kW power requirement under sunny conditions. The unit has only approximately 200 operating hours. Hot water is supplied by a 60-liter boiler running on 230V AC.
COCKPIT COMFORT
The cockpit features full enclosure protection against wind, weather, and sun. It remains pleasantly warm even in lower outdoor temperatures.
