1982 Sackett and Pendelbury 100' Motor Yacht, 

El Zorro is a beautiful yacht with classic lines that has undergone an eight year restoration, just completed in 2015.

El Zorro was famous in fishing circles, owned by the legendary sport fisherman Jim Edmiston who had her re-built to navigate the globe in search of marlin. Built at a cost of approximately $2,500,000, which equates to over $6,500,000 today, she had a custom built ramp to hold a Bertram 31 sport fish. Jim was serious about fishing!

After his death, El Zorro languished in Trinidad for several years before being purchased by her current owners in January, 2006. Then began the 10 years of loving restoration, culminating in December, 2015. Not a novice in yacht restoration the owner had previously restored a dozen other boats. His expertise shows in the finished product, El Zorro as she is today, a true classic yacht with all the modern amenities you would expect.

The restoration included the installation of twin 825hp Iveco diesels with new gearboxes, a fuel polishing system, new fuel tanks totaling 15,000 gallons (range of 5,000nm), two 48kw NorPro generators, a twin prop 49hp SidePower bow thruster, Maxwell windlass and a 1,500gpd water maker. In addition a fly bridge was designed better comfort and visibility. Also included in the rebuild, the ship was totally re-wired and re-plumbed and all new electronics installed.

In all, El Zorro spent 10 1/2 years on the hard. After a painstaking inspection, in which no defects were found in the hull, she was sanded down and 4 layers of epoxy applied using 18 ounce bi-axle fiberglass. The bottom received 4 coats of Emron 385 plus 2 coats of HammerLock and finally 10 coats of anti-fouling paint.

The elegant interior is finished entirely in solid hardwoods (teak, ebony and juniper) no veneers are used. The craftsmanship is superb as evidenced by the photos. Inside you'll find an expansive master stateroom and 4 guest staterooms, each with access to heads and showers (2 staterooms and master ensuite) plus crew quarters on the bridgedeck and guest head and showers on the main deck aft of the salon, immediately adjacent to the entryway.

El Zorro is currently in a very successful charter program in Trinidad. She can be left in the program if desired, or perhaps moved to a new location and continue in charter. Of course she is also, with her extended range, a perfect yacht for traveling the oceans of the world. The choice is yours.

With her extended range (5,000nm), superb accommodations and separate crew quarters El Zorro would make an extraordinary expedition vessel.

Walk Through

Fly Bridge:

Entry to the fly bridge is via a ladder on the bridge deck. Forward are the engine controls, instruments. Aft to port and starboard are L-shaped seating areas with new cushions, table in the center, storage cabinets and a refrigerator.

Bridge Deck:

Entry to the bridge deck is via a teak ladder from the salon and a ladder from the main deck to starboard of the bar area. The bridge deck has full instrumentation, engine controls, helm seat, a table is aft to starboard with L-shaped seating. Aft to port at the top of the stairs from the salon is a sink, cabinets, a microwave, and refrigerator. The crew quarters, consisting of a hanging locker and drawers, 2 single bunkbed style berths, is aft of the table and seating area. On center-line aft of the helm seat is the head and shower. There is a door located to port allowing access to the deck.

Aft of the pilot house is an open area, partially under cover. To port is a table and seating area, with new cushions. On center-line is the ladder to the fly bridge. To starboard of the ladder are cabinets, sink and refrigerator. Aft on center-line is the Jacuzzi. Ample deck area is available for tables and chairs around and aft of the Jacuzzi.

Main Deck:

The main deck aft houses the SS dinghy davits. Just forward is an open area with BBQ to starboard. A Sunbrella canvas covers the open area which is furnished with table and chairs. There are boarding gates port and starboard. To port of the entry into the salon is a bar with seating around a table. The bar has storage, sink and refrigerator. Opposite is a freezer and ladder to the bridge deck. Speakers are mounted port and starboard.

Entry to the salon is through double doors. Immediately to port are the controls for the generators, just forward is the door to a head with vast cabinetry and a double sink. Opposite is another head with shower which also contains SS washer and dryer. The entire salon area is carpeted and air conditioned.

Continuing on to starboard is a lounge area with large settee and chair with footstool, cocktail table, 55" flat screen tv. Audio video equipment is under in a teak cabinet. Opposite is the dining area with a custom table and eight chairs, surrounded by cabinets for storage. Just forward of the table is a wine cooler.

Forward of the lounge area is a large table with U-shaped seating immediately adjacent to the galley.

The well equipped galley is next to starboard and features granite counter tops and commercial grade stove, ovens, griddle, broiler, 2 microwaves, toaster oven and espresso machine. All galley equipment, pots and pans, flatware and dishes remain with the vessel.

Opposite the galley are two stairs. The forward stair leads down to the master stateroom, the aft leads to a corridor giving access to the four guests cabins. There is also a beautiful teak stairway leading to the bridge deck.

Forward of the galley to port is a huge walk-in freezer and refrigerated pantry. Opposite to starboard is another walk-in pantry.


The stairway from the salon leads directly to the master stateroom which has a queen berth, desk, audio/video equipment, flat screen tv, and large head with shower and tub. The stateroom is fully carpeted and has individually controlled air conditioning.

A separate stairway from the salon leads down to a corridor allowing access to the four guest staterooms. There are two guest staterooms forward port and starboard, both with ample storage, double berths, en suite head and showers and separate seating areas. Both have flat screen tv's and individually controlled air conditioning units.

Aft to port is a stateroom with a 3/4 berth. There is ample storage including a hanging locker and a shower which is shared with the stateroom opposite.

Between the aft staterooms is a large head with sink, also shared with the stateroom opposite.

The starboard stateroom features 3 berths consisting of single berth plus 2 single bunk bed style berths. Hanging locker and drawers provide storage. There is also a small settee on the forward bulkhead.

Engine room:

The engine room is accessed from a ladder located mid-ships center-line just aft the bar on the main deck. Descending the ladder you enter a workshop area with power and hand tools, work bench, storage and spare parts. The main electrical panels are also in this area.

Forward of the workshop is the engine room entered through a ship-type metal door. The engines are forward to port and starboard, generators are aft to port and starboard. This area also contains the fuel polishing system, hot water heater, water maker, controls for holding tanks, emergency manual engine controls, battery chargers and transformers.

As you can see from the photos the engine room is spotless.


A ladder aft on the main deck gives access to a large area used for storage which also gives access to the rudders and rams for the autopilot.

Engines And Generators

  • The engines and generators are maintained by the owner. Engines are serviced every 150 hours in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
