Biography

Christopher W. ("Kit") Denison literally grew up in the yachting and marina industry. He worked in the family boat-building and repair business of Broward Marine in Fort Lauderdale and at Saugatuck Marine in Saugatuck, Michigan. He also taught sailing and raced sailboats during the summers.

After graduating from Pine Crest School in Fort Lauderdale in 1961, he attended and graduated from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania in 1965. From 1966 to 1971, Denison worked in New York City for ABC as the Director of Research and ultimately as the National Sales Director for the ABC Radio Station Group. But, by far the best thing that happened in NYC was finding and marrying his wife Ann, and having their first son, Chris.

In 1983, Ann and Kit founded Denison Marine, which became the recognized leader in 100-foot plus, high-performance (30+knots) aluminum yachts. Denison Marine was blessed to have COO Carl Bischoff and naval architect and designer Joe Langlois, along with over 200 talented tradespeople, who, as a team, helped change the face of yachting - with a number of new innovations, including the first installation of “Ka-Me-Wa” waterjet drives and “Arneson” surface drives propulsion systems.

Between Broward and Denison Marine, Kit estimates that he was involved in the building of approximately 100 yachts up to 140 feet LOA.

In 1992, Denison Marine was merged into Broward Marine, after which Kit founded Denison Yacht Sales (“Denison Yachting”), now owned and operated by his son Bob. Kit now is a member of the Superyacht Division, specializing in selling both Browards and Denisons, plus enjoying his nine grandchildren.
