Phase 1 is underway and will be nearing completion in the third quarter of 2016, and the marina, which has reservations already, will be ready for yachts shortly thereafter.

To help facilitate vital marine biology research, Golfito Marina Village has formed a unique partnership with The International SeaKeepers Society, a nonprofit organization that focuses on the health of the world’s oceans.

As part of the relationship with SeaKeepers, scientists will maintain an onsite presence in Golfito, Costa Rica. Golfito Marina Village & Resort will supplement the shipment of a SeaKeeper’s 40-foot “Wet Lab” container from the SeaKeepers’ headquarters in Miami, Fl.

Once in place at the marina, a team of researchers and scientists from the University of Florida will use the lab for research including sampling small marine species, the sequencing of DNA genomes, and determining what key findings can be gleaned for pharmaceutical needs.

Anchoring of the docks, constructed by Crane Materials International, began in March. Marina Electrical Equipment is designing the electrical system, which will offer a total of 4000A at 480 volts three phase, using receptacle offerings from 30A to 300A with wireless metering of all utilities.

Electrical power will be delivered to the vessels with a comprehensive range of distribution equipment including ultra-efficient GTX unit substations, power pedestals, and GTX Super and Giga-Yacht Centers.
