Denison Brokers Land in Top Ten of Santa Barbara to King Harbor Race

July 30, 2018 12:01 pm

With more than 90 boats entered in the 46th Annual Santa Barbara to King Harbor Race, Denison Yachting had brokers spread across three different teams, all of which managed to eek out a top-ten finish.

Broker Jim Bailey Sailboat Racing California

Members from the company’s Newport Beach and Marina Del Rey sales offices, including Jim and Will Bailey, Dave Millett, as well as Bill and Will Petersen, were aboard three different Transpac 52s, racing their way through the 81 nautical-mile course that’s become an offshore tradition for competitive sailors over the last four-plus decades.

Bill/Will Peterson Sailboat Racing California

Hosted by the Santa Barbara and King Harbor Yacht Clubs, the July 27-28 regatta attracts competitors from all over the sailing community, sometimes even as far southeast as Texas, with sailors departing out of Santa Barbara Harbor and racing downwind to Redondo Beach’s King Harbor.

Conditions offered primarily light and variable winds, but as the fleet neared Point Dume in Malibu, the breeze filled in to 18-plus knots.

Denison Team Finishes (ULDB A Class):

Jim and Will Bailey – “Destroyer” 7th
Dave Millett – “Nimbus” 5th
Bill and Will Petersen – “Encore” 3rd

Nice work, gents.
