Denison’s team is embarking upon their fourth annual shipyard tour next week, this year to the Tuscan region of Italy. They will visit the leading Superyacht builders in Viareggio and La Spezia, both known for their advanced yacht shipyards, history of craftsmanship, and shipbuilding prowess. A team of 10 Denison employees will tour the shipyards in both cities with the hopes of encountering never-before-seen yacht builds with the desire to learn more about the shipyard’s billing and design process operations.
President and Founder Bob Denison believes an annual shipyard tour is both educational and offers incredible team-building opportunities. When asked his favorite part of the annual tour, he becomes very serious, saying, “I love learning about how different shipyards build boats, and most importantly, what sets their build philosophies apart from the others.” He went on to say that he loves spending time with team members outside of the office, referring to his employees as his “bros.” In the past, he has referred to the Denison team as being not just a team but a family, and his belief in that sentiment truly shows.
Among the “family” are superyacht brokers Alex Clarke, Gary Hardcastle, Justin Onofrietti, Will Noftsinger, Bruce Schattenburg, Mike Burke, Jarrett Hiebert, and Sidney Ambroise, who will travel alongside Bob and the company’s superyacht director, Ben Farnborough, for the duration of the trip.
This will be Ben’s second shipyard tour as part of the Denison team and says his favorite part is spending time with brokers, team building with colleagues, and learning of current projects at the shipyards. He says that a shipyard tour is “part education, to learn specifically about the yards and their capabilities,” but also to see what a client’s experience may be if they desired to build a new yacht and visit the shipyard with their broker. It does not take long to see that the Denison team is passionate about the yacht industry’s continued evolution and improvement, as well as their clientele’s experience and satisfaction.
Eight specific manufacturers are being toured, including San Lorenzo, Admiral Italian Sea Group, Benetti, Baglietto, Rossinavi, Codecasa, Perini Navi, and Overmarine.
