Catamaran Experts Blown Away By Beneteau’s New EXCESS Developments

Groupe Beneteau launched their EXCESS (or XCS) catamaran range through its CNB brand in January and only a few short months later hosted their first EXCESS Catamaran Dealer’s Convention in Bordeaux. A few of our Denison Brokers had the pleasure of attending the convention and jumping aboard the breathtaking EXCESS 12 and 15. This was our first opportunity to do so since we’d only seen renderings up until this point.

Catamaran Specialist
Wiley Sharp | Catamaran Broker

Broker Wiley Sharp first heard about the EXCESS project almost two years ago. He says, “I’ve felt like a kid waiting for Christmas morning.” In his opinion, the renderings do not do them justice. He boarded the EXCESS 15 and immediately noticed that the cockpit was well thought out, the sail control lines were within arm’s reach of the helms, and there was generous accessibility to the generator and engines.

Broker Kurt Jerman climbed aboard the 15 and recognized many features that “hit the mark,” in his opinion.

He noticed the incredibly spacious and well laid-out cockpit and salon just as Wiley had, and went on to say that the good  visibility from both helm stations helped with ease of handling and the generous sail plan give the boat excellent performance.

The long-awaited unveiling made both Wiley and Kurt anxious to continue their tour of the cats. EXCESS 12 was the second catamaran to board, and in Kurt’s opinion, she stole the show. He says, “It will no doubt outshine all other cats in its class.” Which is understandable, thanks to its larger cockpit area thanks to the twin outboard helm stations and the optional sliding roof for a clearer view of the sky and a fresh breeze at anchor.

She also features incredibly functional space, storage, and ease inside the galley and between both owners and guest cabins. Wiley mused that the 12’s master stateroom is best in class, in his opinion. He was delighted to find that the designers did a great job creating unobstructed lines of sight from both helms to all four corners of the boats—something not found on any other twin helm sailing catamaran.

Our Catamaran experts were blown away by the developments made in Beneteau’s new EXCESS range, and we’re positive you will be, too. Contact your Denison catamaran broker today to learn more about EXCESS.
