I had the pleasure of attending the 58^th Annual Antigua Charter Yacht Show which took place December 4-9, 2019 on the beautiful shores of Antigua and Barbuda. The show took place at three marinas one of which is a UNESCO Heritage Site. This year there were over 60 vessels on display ranging from 62′ to 296′ in length. The Antigua show is a fantastic forum for charter brokers to meet amazing crew, experience delicious cuisine onboard magnificent yachts and interact with industry colleagues at informative seminars.

In addition, there are crew competitions including a Concourse de Chef, Tablescaping competition, and Designer Water competition. This year 122’ Delta Marine WONDERLAND placed first in all three categories in her size range and 198’ Feadship ROCKIT took the top prize in the Chef’s Competition of yachts over 160ft. The coveted Chef’s Competition, sponsored by Boat International Media Group, challenges chefs to imagine it’s the first night of a new charter and asks chefs to come up with a uniquely impressive menu to welcome guests on board. I also had the pleasure of experiencing a gastronomic feast onboard many yachts including 105’ catamaran BELLA VITA, 126’ Feadship BERILDA and 164’ Westport HOSPITALITY just to name a few.

The Antigua Charter Show is a great way to preview yachts for clients. The private charter yacht experience is a vacation like no other. Unlike a hotel, which is fixed in one location, a charter yacht is easily moved to satisfy any whim, from a gourmet picnic on a deserted atoll, to fine dining ashore, from night club-hopping till the wee hours, to watching the stars from the spa. With most charter destinations, you will have the choice of anything from complete seclusion, to jet-set night life.
