Virgin Islands Open For Charter Yachts [COVID-19 Protocol]

May 15, 2020 2:26 pm

It’s official, charter yachts welcome guests to the USVI starting Monday, June 1, 2020.  The Governor, Albert Ryan Jr issued his Sixth Executive Order and Proclamation For The Safer At Home In Response to COVID-19 State of Emergency, which outlined the new guidelines and details the different phases with re-opening the territory.  To read the full text of the Governor’s Sixth Executive Order, see the official statement.

This is great news for the territory who relies heavily on tourism as well as anyone interested in going on vacation this Summer with the family or with their quarantine bubble.  Travelers don’t even need a passport to experience a luxurious crewed charter yacht in the US Virgin Islands; just a driver’s license.

Dare Blakenhorn, President of VIPCA and Owner/Director of Charter Caribe Yacht Management in St. Thomas, USVI shared his view on the territory re-opening for Summer visitors:

“We are particularly excited about being able to highlight the natural beauty and tremendous variety that US Virgin Islands bring to the chartering experience.  In many cases, over the course of a normal season, the best parts of the USVI are unintentionally overlooked as guests are charging for the BVI.  The multitude of dive sites, the fishing and lobstering, the stunning National Parks, beaches, and protected areas, and of course now the addition of floating restaurants that are being created to enhance the social experiences of our guests; are going to shine this summer.”
