Walker’s Cay – 3rd Annual Tournament Features Huge Marlin & a Big Prize Purse

Carl Allen is bringing Walker’s Cay back to its legendary glory as a fishing destination in the northern Bahamas.

But it sure has not been easy. In fact, Allen has admitted rebuilding Walker’s has been harder than he ever thought it would be. But he’s also quick to point out that it’s all been worthwhile since they were able to pull off the Inaugural Walker’s Cay Blue Marlin Invitational back in 2021. 

And now that close to 50 boats have registered to compete in the third annual Walker’s Cay Blue Marlin Invitational from May 24-27, the legend of Walker’s Cay continues to grow.

Past events have attracted big names like top-ranked golfer Dustin Johnson (who competed aboard his custom-built Just Chilin), big-time tournament fishermen, and Walker’s own celebrity fisherman Billy Black, but Allen has always said he’s committed to making the event better every year.

So, when it comes to the celebrity star power scheduled to attend this year’s event, it’s pretty hard to top the owner of the distinctive Viking 80 Catch 23—Michael Jordan. He always keeps a low profile. And he loves that his fellow fishermen don’t bother him too much because they like to get away and just fish as much as he does. But, umm–he’s Michael Jordan.

If world-class Blue Marlin fishing in a well-run tournament with world-class fishermen and A-list celebrities isn’t enough. Rumor has it that Allen is going share some insights into his other passion—looking for, and better still, finding priceless historical artifacts that have been buried in the sands of the Bahama Bank. In fact, he and his team have found so many priceless artifacts that sank aboard a well-known treasure ship in 1656, he’s opened a museum in Freeport to share what he’s found with the world.

No wonder an invitation to the Walker’s Cay Invitational is so…treasured. In fact, interest in the Walker’s Cay Invitational has been so high, Allen and company have added another tournament.

The first annual Walkers Cay Blue Marlin Qualifier takes place from May 31 – June 3 this year. The top five boats in the Qualifier receive automatic entry into the 2024 Walker’s Cay Invitational. The top three boats receive a free entry fee into the 2024 Qualifier as well.
